    Overlapping anouncements at busy stations

It was worse at St Pancras Themeslink platforms in the evening peak (not been there for several months though). Only 2 plaforms, but the enclosed space made the noise unbearable and pointless. The on-platform announcers, with their radio handsets, were continually shouting over each other. Just...

    Gatwick Express at Clapham Junction??

Yes it is regular, I often use or see it on my commute home. It was usually a 442 before the 387/2s. I have not seen a green 377 used on the 18:30 in the last year, but that doesn't mean it never happens. Station annoucements at Victoria normally say it is a Southern service, but on-board it...

    Most hated traction

Class 387, and anything with the same painful seats. Should never have been allowed into service like that.

Nre not available whilst i was abroad

NRE does have some country based blocks in effect. It depends on which country they 'think' the connection originated from (IP address geo-location). A few months ago, NRE stopped working from my employer's office in central London (same error as you saw). After several attempts, we...

Amended timetable for Govia Thameslink Railway services on Brighton mainline

That may be the case, but I remain cynical. The crew scheduling seems so tight that a problem elsewehere on the network, several hours before, results in one or more 10/12 car peak trains out of London Bridge being cancelled due to no driver or guard. The cancellations often happen at the last...

Amended timetable for Govia Thameslink Railway services on Brighton mainline

Being cynical, is it coincidence that there are ongoing reports of crew shortage at the moment? I suspect it gets them out of paying fines/delay repay. There also seems to be spin involved, because they have not (yet) published a list of all the changes, instead referring people to the...

    Station Announcements

The auto-announcer on Southern stations no longer says sorry, or gives any reason, unless the delay is significant. We just get something like "the hh:mm service to xxxx will now arrive/depart at hh:mm". Saves electricity I suppose.

    Station Announcements

I find that timing of manual announcements is too often poor, i.e. just as a train rattles in/out of the station, meaning few can hear them. This is most annoying at times of disruption/alteration when people really need to know, and only one or few announcements is/are made. City Thameslink...

    Thameslink and Southern

I feel very sorry for the catering staff, and wish them all the best for the future. This seems however pretty much in line with the general decline in comfort and standards, like shelving instead of proper seats. Aircon is good, when provided and working.

London Bridge - new timetable during reconstruction works commencing 5th January 2015

I got there about 17:30 (must have just happened, no hint of a problem when I left work). I agree the lack of kettling was a nice relief, I always thought it was unnecessary, and actually made the situation worse for everyone. The few P.A. announcements I found impossible to discern with all...

    Thameslink and Southern

When passing early this morning, the new buildings on the west side had 'Three Bridges Traincare Depot' and 'Siemens' signs in the process of being added. Though obviously this is just the maintenance and train parking area. The drivers' resort, with pool, sauna and massage, is probably...

London Bridge - new timetable during reconstruction works commencing 5th January 2015

I am always very critical of the lack of timely and/or accurate information. However, I have to agree with you on the above. I checked the nationalrail live departure boards and realtimetrains at around 16:30 (ish) and both the 17:57 (Brighton) and 18:23 (Eastbourne) were already shown as...

London Bridge - new timetable during reconstruction works commencing 5th January 2015

Same answer as always, it takes way too long. We can't expect notification to be instant, because it will take time to assess the impact of many problems. But, this does seem another case of a rail company choosing not to publish known information which is essential to passengers trying to get...

London Bridge - new timetable during reconstruction works commencing 5th January 2015

Probably not, it is just that the trains are almost empty at St. Pancras, by the time they get to Blackfriars most/all the seats have gone. I had a St. Pancras ticket anyway so wasn't taking unfair advantage. If I had known about the problem before leaving work, then I would have walked to...

London Bridge - new timetable during reconstruction works commencing 5th January 2015

Or somebody who had just done the 20 minute walk from near Waterloo to London Bridge, having checked live departure boards and disruption status just before leaving the office (just 1 cancelled Littlehampton train, with no reason given). It is remarkable how often problems seem to occur and...

Flats backing onto the Haywards Heath line

I normally catch the 5.31am Thameslink from Haywards Heath. I had noticed during the new multi-storey car park build there always seemed to be one or more noisy (petrol/diesel) electricity generators left running all night, I assume for lighting/site security. Recently it has been quieter, not...

Major problems at London Bridge on Tuesday 3rd March

Personally, having only been there for a period of 40 minutes and without the benefit of CCTV, I would say there was plenty of space on and around the platforms. There was some crowding just after the barriers and around the platform displays. Again a personal opinion, without being a crowd...

Major problems at London Bridge on Tuesday 3rd March

Tuesday was the second day in a row with a large crowd and only one or two ticket gates open. When I was there I experienced no crush or bad/selfish behaviour from anybody. People were just slowly moving toward the open gates, occasionally bumping into each other but that is quite normal in the...

Major problems at London Bridge on Tuesday 3rd March

Thank you for the information. I believe you, but this was not communicated to the public for London Bridge. Maybe it was later on, but not when I left work and had to make a decision where to travel from. Once at London Bridge there was no useful information provided, and the mobile network...
