    2024 Tube Stock (Siemens Inspiro)

Interesting - will the 2024 stock be able to brake later even with the current signalling system?

    2024 Tube Stock (Siemens Inspiro)

Is this for all the time or only when they're on time, i.e. will they have the same schedule but if they're running late they can use the same power, or will the power be capped to be exactly the same at all times?

    2024 Tube Stock (Siemens Inspiro)

Thanks, why is that? Do you know when the new signalling system is planned for? (I'm assuming there isn't already a thread for that). Do you know what the acceleration/max power output will be once the new signalling system is installed?

    2024 Tube Stock (Siemens Inspiro)

Anybody know how either the max acceleration or max power output compares to the previous stock? Trying to get a sense of how much quicker journeys will be

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

I'm sure there are a lot of people who travel in the same way as you do - but they probably tend to be wealthier if they can afford to be spending extra in order to have the choice of coming back when they like. Of course people might not know their shifts until a couple of weeks before, but if...

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

Interesting, for me going on a four-hour reasonably expensive train journey would be the same as getting on a flight - i.e. I would sort accommodation and the flight times first, and then arrange everything else around that to make sure I would definitely be able to make the outward and return...

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

Controversial opinion - the railway should not be subsiding those who want to travel long distances at short notice, particularly on routes which are at capacity. These are much more likely to be wealthy or business travellers. If there is spare money to go around, it should go towards...

    Great video! Is it yours?

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

Sounds more like they have a set number of tickets to sell at each price point, rather than actively increasing tickets on days they think are going to be busy

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

My girlfriend also gets travel sick on the 390s but not other trains. She also doesn't like the low ceilings compared to other trains.

    HS2 Old Oak Common

I'm interested in updating the photo of construction at Old Oak Common on Wikipedia. Does anyone have any photos that they are willing to put on Wikipedia? I tried going yesterday but couldn't find a good spot for a photo due to the double layers of fences.

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

Anyone know what the effect has been on passenger numbers on busy off-peak trains? Has it successfully priced off passengers onto quieter trains?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Isn't the solution to move the 8 car board rearwards so that people spread themselves further forwards? Or does that cause other issues?

    HS2 Construction overall timeline

Thanks @Cowley, HS2 have provided an update, saying that they will sign contracts for track, signalling and OLE next year. Work on these will (hopefully!) start in 2026/27. HS2 on track for pivotal 12 months as high-speed railway takes shape

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Not sure I follow - isn't Micklefield to Church Fenton contained within Colton to Church Fenton? EDIT: Realised I was looking at the wrong Colton!

New Brent Cross West (Thameslink) station

Unless they've closed it in the last few days, you can get through by going through Claremont Park (see my photo from Sunday in post 223 above)

New Brent Cross West (Thameslink) station

Eastern entrance of the station - looks quite nice but looks like possibly two lifts just to get up to the walkway level? Or perhaps the exit to the walkway is on the other side?
