    South Wales 'Metro' updates

This document on the RMT website appears to confirm that safety-critical guards' duties will remain when the 398s and 756s are introduced on the CVL. https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/public-document-library/conductor-restructuring-proposal-paper-finalpdf221123/

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

I suppose it was a problem with traction equipment, just not that on that unit!

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

No there isn't. I'd have quoted from it but the forum software won't let me. By the way, if you're a member of Cardiff or Newport library services you can read the Western Mail and the Echo online for free without the annoying ads. Facsimiles of the paper newspapers.

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

The Welsh Government undertook to retain heavy rail operating principles, pay scales and guards on the CVL from the outset. It may well have been more beneficial to spend the money on upgrading the City and Coryton lines for higher frequencies. The advantage of rail over bus or active travel...

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Have you got Google Sheets (for Android) or Apple Numbers (iOS) installed? They'll read xlxs files and give a better experience than a pdf. I've attached a pdf produced by the former. Edit:I thought I had attached but the forum software isn't showing it for some reason. I'll try again later.

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Yes. Mainly for the excellent Land of Lost Content museum which I see has since closed down, sadly.

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

On the other hand, tourists might want to spend some time in Craven Arms eating and exploring the town. Their numbers must be tiny compared with those of students travelling every day though.

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

Particularly a kitchen car with it's increased risk of catching fire. Do they use gas to cook?

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

Yes, as long as they're not carrying fare-paying passengers. Staff, contractors etc are assumed to be suitably trained in operation of slam doors without CDL.

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

It was so simple yesterday that the train arrived at Chester 6 minutes early by the public timetable. Being timed for a 75mph sprinter but formed of a Cl 197 probably helped. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P64073/2024-04-14/detailed#allox_id=0

RMT reporting that Merseyrail have suspended off peak ticket sales from Liverpool Central/Moorfields - Aintree for Grand National weekend.

Won't charging more enable more staff to be employed (meaning more members for the unions), or at least pay for overtime (potentially at premium rates) for the members who want it?

RMT reporting that Merseyrail have suspended off peak ticket sales from Liverpool Central/Moorfields - Aintree for Grand National weekend.

I'd imagine they're earning lots of overtime, some at more than normal hourly rates.

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

The recent publicity in national newspapers and on TV will surely have brought the matter to the insurer's attention, even if they were previously unaware.

RMT reporting that Merseyrail have suspended off peak ticket sales from Liverpool Central/Moorfields - Aintree for Grand National weekend.

According to https://www.brfares.com/!fares?orig=LVC&dest=AIN&period=20240401 the Anytime Day Return from Liverpool Central or Moorfields is £4.60, the single is £4.40 and there are no off peak fares. Does the additional revenue accrue to the concessionaire's bottom line or to the taxpayer?

    Build Quality of New Models

My local operator, Newport Transport, have been running Yutongs for over three years now so I have plenty of experience of them as a passenger. I find them more than acceptably comfortable for an urban bus and ok for longer inter-urban journeys too. The build quality seems good and even the...

I wonder if there's a penalty payable by CAF in those circumstances?

Ultimately the costs will all be paid by TfW via the leasing charges.

    Broadband weather problems

I spent a fascinating afternoon observing a fibre being blown from a chamber half a mile up the road through ducting under the pavement and within the building where I worked into the Comms room.

    Broadband weather problems

Underground cables can get when it rains, overhead ones flap around in the wind and bad weather means more people are likely to be indoors consuming bandwidth.
