    GWR Class 150s

5Z50 is shown en-route and 150216 is on 2C04 to Penzance. I guess that means 150207 is returning to Wolverton?

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Indeed. This mornings peak is the first that SWR have had 70 455s in passenger use from the fleet of 80(+2). SWR must be about hitting the buffer stops of how many 458 diagrams can be absorbed by the 40 year old 455s.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

I think that this diagram has gone over from a single 458/5 to a single 450 as of this week. The 2223 Waterloo - Alton still seems to 10-car 458/5 though.

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Well they have worked for 63 consecutive weekdays on the same diagram, and for 77 of the last 79. So if you arrive at Clapham at the same time as this diagram you should always see them

Trivia: When did the last loco hauled services operate on normal passenger services from each London termini?

On Sunday 12th December 2004 47355 + 47832 top & tail worked 1400 Nottingham - St Pancras, 1830 St Pancras - Derby. These were additional trains due to industrial action. It used what is now the SouthEastern platforms. On Saturday 18th February 2023 and Sunday 19th February 2023 47813 + 47815...

Trivia: When did the last loco hauled services operate on normal passenger services from each London termini?

As per the route now to Ealing Broadway, then via Willesden sidings and Kensington Olympia, as used by the Brighton cross country services at that time, then the spur to Vauxhall as used by Eurostar Waterloo to North Pole ECS trains. It used Waterloo for a while to provide direct connections in...

Trivia: When did the last loco hauled services operate on normal passenger services from each London termini?

Waterloo was used as the regular London terminus for the Night Riviera in the early days of Eurostar at Waterloo. I don't recall when that finished, and the Night Riviera reverted to Paddington, but Waterloo was still being used in January 1997 which was the only time I used that service.

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Thank you for this information. Currently there are nine 10-car 458 diagrams plus one 5-car diagram, so require 19 unit diagrams in total from the current fleet of 22(23) units, although as noted above the random permutation 2C16 diagram being 10v8 means that 21 from 22 are in use today. If...

Are the two remaining 707s also going to be gone by April as was suggested when their transfer to SouthEastern was postponed last October, or has that been put back further? Their daily 100% availability since gaining their dedicated diagram in November is impressive.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Paths are on RTT for the next 458/4 delivery from Widnes to Wembley today which I guess will be 458415. The return from Bournemouth tomorrow evening only runs as far as Eastleigh Yard with no onward path shown at present. Conceivably this path may be for the locos and barrier vehicles only...

Trains skipping stations when they are less than 5 minutes late

There used to be a leaf fall timetable on the Readings, but SWR switched to permanently using the leaf fall timetable in February 2023. I believe this was to allow more time for the Desiro door times. On the non leaf fall timetable, a down service would arrive at Reading a few minutes before the...

Autumn refresh for GWR Class 165/166 Turbos

I am guessing 5Q81 was 166214 and 5Q70 was either 166204 or 166210? As an alternative, 5Q70 could be 166217 being returned to Wolverton? 166217 does not appear to have done anything since it arrived from Wolverton two weeks ago so perhaps it requires rectification.

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

I have noticed recently that, unlike SWR main line services, SWR metro short forms are rarely reported on journeycheck. The diagram with 458521 did crop up this morning, although the fact that it was only a 5-car was not mentioned directly 06:49 Farnham to London Waterloo due 08:31 Service full...

Thank you for this information. I notice that 458521 should end the day today at Farnham off 2223 Waterloo - Alton so possibly it will end at Wimbledon Park tomorrow off one of Farnham - Waterloo via Camberley diagrams. But, it is currently running as 5 vice 10, so it is possible it will get...
