    Glasgow Subway new stock

I think with some of the above posts regarding disability access, announcements etc. it would be helpful if people could debate with each other with a bit of understanding please (and also not go too far off topic ;)).

Trivia: Rarest BR locos to survive into preservation

The class 17 ended up in industrial use, Castle Cement amongst others from what I remember? A pretty remarkable survivor though definitely.

A question about commuting to vs living in London.

Thanks for the replies everyone. There’s some really useful stuff in there. Rather than try and reply to each one individually I noticed a few questions that are probably worth answering. They would be renting yes. Our daughter may potentially work for the same company but part time and...

A question about commuting to vs living in London.

Hi everyone. Our youngest daughter’s partner has just moved over from Canada and it’s looking like he’s been offered a job in London. The office is quite near Vauxhall station. Neither of them are particularly city type people and they’re very unlikely to want to go out clubbing in London at...

    Lapford station in N gauge.

I will explain a bit about what the plans are soon. At the moment we’re building a new cabin in the garden plus I’ve got to dismantle the railway tomorrow so it’s all hands on deck at the moment!

    Loving these photos @lostwin(m)!

    Lapford station in N gauge.

I think doing a show at Portsmouth Arms would be a slow day.

    Lapford station in N gauge.

Funnily enough I just had a message from Louis that they’re taking it the Barnstaple show next year, so it’s going to be fairly close to its namesake… They’re also taking it to the Portsmouth show later this year, which we’ll also be at with Moors View!

PF/UKRT Western Champion 'One Way Wizzo' Railtour 14/4/24

Must admit that I’m a bit partial to the high pitched squeak of a Western horn. I guess a bit like fans of Donald Trump, I’ll excuse a class 52 of any poor behaviour… ;)

    Lapford station in N gauge.

Thank you very much for those kind words. I just threw myself into it and hopefully this thread shows that you can achieve something pretty good with a bit of thought and patience. Anyway, the railway does indeed have a new home and I made a little video earlier explaining where it’s going…

PF/UKRT Western Champion 'One Way Wizzo' Railtour 14/4/24

Yes that’s what I’d have thought too. There’s a nice bit of in cab footage here, which although isn’t at full speed gives a bit of an idea of the cab environment:

Trivia: Rarest BR locos to survive into preservation

I’d say the class 15, class 17, class 28 and prototype HST power car are all very interesting single surviving members of their types.

Urgent - court case Friday 12th April

I think because the OP has concluded things we should probably close this one now. If anyone thinks there’s a useful thread in the last page or so then feel free to give us a list of posts and we’ll look at creating something. Thanks as always for your input everyone.

You’re absolutely right of course. I think I was thinking of the Western Talisman railtour with D1023. Just found this photo of D1013 leaving Rotherham on the way to Leeds on the working you were talking about (I bet the guy at the front droplight couldn’t stop pinching himself )...

PF/UKRT Western Champion 'One Way Wizzo' Railtour 14/4/24

I thought that was D1023 on that run (with dot headcodes)? If that was the one then I think it was early mk2 pressure ventilated stock from memory?

Thanks for finding that photo again. It still remains the only shot I’ve ever seen of them on aircons. As you say, I bet it was warm!

Very rare. In fact the only photo I’ve ever seen of a Western on aircon mk2s was taken by our very own @Ash Bridge. (Calling Mr Bridge. Calling Mr Bridge)

It’s quite heartwarming seeing the old girl back out on the main line. I’m so pleased for the crew. Yeah he’s a really nice guy actually. I met him last year and he was really friendly. I just love them. They’ll probably always be my favourite class of diesel locomotives.
