Catford Loop to Blackfriars - why?

Would have thought Victoria would have been a better terminus at least for the busier part of the line between Peckham and Catford, considering West End access is a bit fiddly from those areas.

Horrendous Hull Trains East Coast ride

Sounds exactly like my journey, but I was going the other way. 1710539889 I once did Hatfield to Kings Cross fast on a 313. That's a story in and of itself but as we went over the New Barnet crossovers at 75mph on the up fast I can remember the bouncing was so rough bags fell from the overhead...

Horrendous Hull Trains East Coast ride

Yes same with me, I thought we were going to come off the rails the carriage was so unstable. I asked the train manager what on earth was going on and in a slightly shaky voice assured me this was normal...

Horrendous Hull Trains East Coast ride

Yes I went on an IET late last year out of Paddington and began to genuinely fear for my life at West Drayton. Even the carriage vestibule doors couldn’t stay closed from the violent shaking.

Metcam Networkers to be withdrawn at the end of the year?

I think we will get more 378s on Southern, with 379s replacing displaced 378s elsewhere.

Metcam Networkers to be withdrawn at the end of the year?

It took me a long time to realise there was a difference in traction motor packages. I remember distinctively hearing the MetCam ones first when I was 4 upon departure of Brixton but it seemed every time I saw a Networker the noise was never quite how I remembered it - because I was hearing the...

    Hither Green

Last time I was there to watch trains was a few years ago. I didn’t take pictures but on the down main platform it was pretty remote from the ticket office where any staff would be. Don’t go to Wandsworth Common station though, staff was *very* unhappy when I tried to take pictures there a few...

Metcam Networkers to be withdrawn at the end of the year?

I hope not. Soon that incredible traction motor noise would be consigned to history. But if, that dark day is approaching when the MetCam sets will be abolished, does anyone know how to get tickets for the inevitable farewell tour? I missed the 455 one but absolutely won’t miss the Networker one.

    Pre-nationalisation schemes that never happened

I’m aware of the routing of the London Extension. Well yes it is longer but it’s straighter than the Midland and with electric traction could have been as fast. Marylebone could have been expanded by building on the neighbouring goods yards. Suburban traffic could have been routed to Paddington...

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

Must of been interesting seeing the transmitters going up in that time

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

Unless it attracts more people from the surrounding hills away from buses to Brixton, which is what the name change will seek to achieve

    Pre-nationalisation schemes that never happened

I wonder what would have been the fate of the GC if they electrified to WH. Perhaps the GC would have been chosen as the main route to the Midlands and Sheffield rather than the Midland.

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

Well if you don't like that proposal, I have plenty other station rename ideas you might enjoy. 1709995528 Well I have an interest in what's called the Norwood Ridge, which is the steep hilly outcrop in the centre of South London. The ridge itself is made of a succession of hills, some large...

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

I assure you I am but a humble train enthusiast. Besides, every station along the Outer South London Line already has that "edgy-trendy" vibe to it. For some reason the areas along the main line via Norbury has not had the same treatment.

My proposal to rename Gipsy Hill station

A semi-serious proposal...alright I am being serious. I propose that Gipsy Hill station should be renamed "Norwood Hills", to reflect the other nearby hilly communities across the Norwood Ridge like Central Hill and Beulah Hill, the latter of which is a remote area quite unconnected from public...

Could the Hotel Curves actually be widened for overhead?
