Landslip at Crewkerne Tunnel - West of England Line closed.

Started from Farnborough in the path of 2L13 as part of the plan for the possession at Brookwood

Landslip at Crewkerne Tunnel - West of England Line closed.

There's still two units in the new yard - was 7 units stuck there originally - so short form on the 0725 but if the line's open both those should run 1702202510 Believe it was an SWR Salisbury driver, still one who maintains knowledge via Taunton under local agreement

Woking - Basingstoke (near Hook) landslip (15/01/23)

They're cleared but with a huge set of restrictions, including platforms at Basingstoke, just not practical to run regularly, even in normal circumstances

Woking - Basingstoke (near Hook) landslip (15/01/23)

1tph isn't going to be feasible with only 1 pilot - briefing, double shunt at Farnborough, run to Basingstoke, reverse and return is over an hour

SWR Class 458 to be retained

There is a restriction, or was until very recently, not in the sectional appendix but in the statement of compatibility for the class. It's power related though, and with 12 450 and 10 444 running down there and drawing more it's quite likely it was just a simple paperwork fix to remove it, or...

Is it cheaper to book with train companies rather than Trainsplit?

In fact the reason that's not being shown is it very much is an overtaken journey - the 1159 direct also arrives 1349, offering no cheaper fares due to very simar calling points, no difference in arrival times, a shorter journey and no change. Seems the journey planner is working perfectly as...

Island Line half hourly timetable start date?

In service today, currently on 2D43

Reduced service on West of England Line from 5th Sept

D Drivers also have a maximum continuous driving time, so while they can do 5h30 on the same units without being relieved before PNB to go over 4 hrs there has to be a 20 minute turnaround at a suitable location, at Exeter in this case. Also, the official restriction of use on the line for the...

    SWR Strike Timetables

Could but that doesn't match the demand - significantly higher off the Basing branch than Alton - it's no accident the stock splits as it does on Sundays (other than late evenings when Alton gets the 8s for berthing reasons)

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Quite a large amount was focussed on the PDL, not quite as many diagrams as Basings and Altons but not far off - of course fewer trains because of the longer journeys

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Already happened as of 18th July, 707s staying longer allowing a cascade of 450s back out to strengthen some of the outer area - wouldn't expect to see anything else lengthened for a while now

How unusual is it for a train on a route to skip all intermediate stations?

Train running controller, NR position who among other things is the interface between operating company controls and signal boxes

How unusual is it for a train on a route to skip all intermediate stations?

Control tells TRC tells the box. The big issue there is that one of the few signals at Wimbledon with ARS is W132, which is the junction for UFL and UPL at Clapham, so it's very easy for the signaller to be focussed on something else off a few seconds and find the non-stop train already routed...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

There's one other key difference between the 701s and other aventras, that they'll be maintained in house not by Alstom, and the comparatively small depots on the SWR network. This means that a large portion of the fleet is outberthed every night and it's pretty common for for a unit not to see...

    National Routeing Guide update

And Pirbright junction if it's booked slow line, though there aren't that many which are SL and don't call Brookwood, mainly around the last services of the day

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Definitely be short term - should be gone from the 18th
  17. D

    SWR Strike Timetables

It's an off the shelf timetable with a naturally late start so much easier to adjust to work with the railway only being available from half 7 - there's no capacity to rewrite the entire morning weekday timetable to allow for this with even the Sunday service requiring significant amounts of...

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

There's only 8 of 12 707s diagrammed this week, down from 10 last week, hence this diagram has given me over to 458s, rather than STP causing the variation as such. Should be down to 6 from Saturday but I'd wait and see...

Divided portion doesn't start from divide point - what does it mean?

No, just the 1849 direct, or 1903 change at Southampton - the system is still seeing them as portions of the same train hence the incorrect implication of a direct journey
  20. D

Divided portion doesn't start from divide point - what does it mean?

It's just a data error from how today's timetable was written, with the SX pattern being altered to become closer to the SO service So SX 1W77 splits at SOU to form 2B57 but SO it doesn't and 2B55 starts at WIN. So today 2B57 has been altered to start WIN but the divide activity wasn't removed...
