Southern timetable changes consultation Coastway West

St Denys is more convenient for me to use, but it's sparse service means the majority of time I go to Central and almost always buy tickets from Central and only using St Denys if a beneficial connection is available. I do wonder how much usage is surpressed by a combination of the limited...

    DelayRepay woes

I have had this at least twice with TfW before when minimum connections at Newport and Reading (on convoluted journey from Southampton to Barmouth via Hereford) were involved. Train arrives 2 or 3 minutes late and breaks minimum connection, make resulting connection either by changing quickly or...

    Split ticket delay repay difficulty

On Thursday 21st December I travelled from Southampton Central to Crewe on the 14:11 GWR to Newport arriving 16:36 (scheduled 16:30) and then the TfW 16:35 (departed 16:45) and arrived in Crewe 30 minutes late. I had three advanced tickets Southampton to Warminster, Warminster to Newport and...

Less than 50% of delay repay being claimed

I've found TfW to be frustrating. In August I was 15 minutes late into Barmouth from Southampton and what should have been a simple claim with a single ticket wasn't because GWR were 3 minutes late into reading on a 7 minute minimum connection. Despite making the 4 minute connection and my...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Have you travelled in summer? They've even started running a 4car 158 set this summer (when enough units available) 1700354778 I think on other threads it's been said that turbos covered vice HSTs to Oxford and beyond so Wales and west kept their HSTs running on several occasions

Except Machynlleth and Dovey Junction where 4 is the minimum connection time, I'm sure there are other quirky examples

Overcrowding on cross country 1128 Exeter to Edinburgh

And between Reading and Birmingham there are not many additional Newcastle services either.

    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

Does anyone know if the sets will be out on the 16th, and what services they'd be on. Engineering works between Newcastle and Edinburgh makes things harder to guess.

"TfW & conn" advances from Southampton to the north west of England

Southampton or Salisbury to Cheshire (I presume north west too) is valid via London, Banbury or Bristol, but not Newport/Hereford which is rather odd/annoying. I don't know why you would travel to Bristol and then back to Birmingham when one change at Newport is available!

    Liverpool to Birmingham

What are the connections like at Stoke/Stafford into the half hourly cross country to Birmingham?

Then it would be the same as the 185's with transpennine, but slightly worse as there would be almost no standard seats at all in one carriage. First would be either side of the catering cupboard and the wheelchair area/toilet at the end

    May 2023 changes

I too wonder what will happen capacity wise when XC are able to run through and their planned frequencies reading to Birmingham. It's useful from Southampton to be hourly to reading and north. But I do worry about single voyagers when the Newcastle services aren't running

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

No worries, understand these things happen. Actually arrived at the same time thanks to helpful staff at Shrewsbury.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Yep squeezed onto the 1749, left people behind at Newport and now in a taxi from Shrewsbury onto the Cambrian coast as had missed the bus connecting into the final train

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Yeah and I'd just let the delayed 1649 go too

Amazing, thanks a lot. Hopefully it does make it!

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Does anyone know if there's any chance of a MkIV set being fixed today on Canton ready for 1W96 1714 Cardiff to Holyhead? 150280 started that diagram this morning on the 0648 Cardiff Holyhead.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Thanks. Minor irritation from me that the 1530 from Manchester arrives Newport 1836 in the public timetable but 1834 1/2 in the working timetable. If the public arrival time was 1835 it would be a valid connection into the 1840 Portsmouth harbour train. It does annoy me somewhat that TfW and ATW...

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Will the Sunday diagrams start this Sunday? And any ideas on which services they will run/start from?

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

How well are they getting 3 sets out in service each day? And how many in total have had the SDO mods.now?
