The Great Escape ... Trespass special edition!

Not sure about other traction but a class 66 has a radar (for the speedometer) which sits about the height of the rail head. So no clearance there.

Have any of you had a start date for Trafford Park?

Different criteria for shunter/driver than for mainline

I’m a Shunt Driver for an FOC. I hold a European Licence, drive trains within the yard and also onto the network rail infrastructure, I pull points, do coupling and once out of PQA will be able to conduct. I had to take the full psychometric tests and have a full driver medical. My point is it...

Would you leave a stable job for a trainee drivers job in this current climate?

That’s quite an opinion. I think like TOCs it very much depends on the individual company. Also it depends on whether you want to drive passenger or freight. I’ve learnt to drive with an FOC and feel it’s a real grounding for loco hauled stock both Diesel and electric and I’m very glad I...

    Freightliner Uniform

I find the sizes of most things as you’d expect. The only things I ever struggle with are the Jackets and Vests. I’m XL in T-shirt’s and jumpers but L in vests and Jackets. I always find the vests and jackets like tents. The team who look after uniform will happily help you out if things aren’t...

    Freightliner Reading Depot

I think Reading is a Heavy Haul Depot. So really anywhere is possible from Bristol back to London. Oxford and beyond. It all depends on any regular work such as potentially Mendip to Acton. Then infrastructure works.

Patience is the key. I think everyone needs to remember it is a massive recruitment drive and will take time.

    Freightliner Various Trainee Drivers

Thank you, same to you. Its strange watching so many different stages of the process being communicated on here at the same time. Seeing people talk about computer tests, stage 1 and now stage 2 is crazy as it seems an age since I did.

    Freightliner Various Trainee Drivers

Sorry should have said I’ve been in the pool since October, was offered a start in Nov but was unable to start then. Was informed it would be Feb or May when I should be starting. I’m aware things can change in the Railway as I’m not green, however I’m remaining positive. They finished the...

I thought you were waiting too. I’m in the pool too for Crewe IM. I’ve decided to stop second guessing as it’s driving me loopy lol. It will happen sooner or later (sooner hopefully!)
