Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

It's got rarer in my observations, but it's not unheard of, the recently reintroduced extension to Fort Kinnaird doesn't block doubles like the old route used to. I assume B8 availability has improved again.

Oh well, got my hopes up for nothing - thanks!

I note belatedly that 496/7 have been repainted into madder and white from skylink blue/grey, and appear to still be sticking to the same routes. Does this signal the end to what personally for me was the least attractive Lothian livery variation?

Trivia: Rare and unusual bus and coach types

Central Scottish's (later Kelvin Central) Dennis Dorchester's: DD1-5 (A101-5 RGE) with Alexander TS bodywork with bus seating DD6-10 (A106-10 UYS) with Alexander TE bodywork with dual purpose seating I believe these were unique combinations. There was also C2-6 (A202-6 UYS) with Alexander TC...

    Ember: Electric coach service

Didn't get a registration, but curiously saw an Ember coach at Wallyford Park & Ride this afternoon around 1230. It appeared to be testing a new electric charger in the bus stops beside the P&R (that I didn't know were there) Bit out the way for them?

    Lothian Buses acquires Eve Coaches

I For me that feels unlikely, they have significant investment due soon in main fleet, pressing electrification targets and I think a few very modern and right sized Enviro 200s aren't going to be a priority. What I'd be interested to see is whether Motorcoaches is busy enough to need it's...

I meant it tongue in cheek. I don't want to wish that build quality into my life is all.

Knowing the love of commonality my suspicion is for some of the 26 or Skylink 17 plate Gemini 3s for ECB but I want to be wrong about that. LCB I'm less sure. 15 plate B5LHs would be a good fit in time?

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I'd personally assume that any transfers to either would need to be newer vehicles so they last until the electrification of the corresponding depots, otherwise they'd need replacing again. Given that it's 2031 for Livingston, and 2033 for Musselburgh, I'd expect that rules 2014 vehicles out as...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I remember when the guided busway looked like it had a tram on it, but it was just a bunch of Eclipses nose to tail.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

There was a plan published by Lothian that charted the order and timeline for each Depot getting electrified, pretty sure Livingston was quite a while off. I also can't see Lothian buying singles for ages, based on the age profile of the single decker fleet and also the small matter that they...

Any word on replacement vehicles for Airlink? COVID obviously changed the game in terms of mileage / time on the road so it was right the B8Ls have stayed on longer, but it feels to me that unless there has been a change of policy they should be renewed about now?

Good units, refurb was solid - probably not many other vehicles that have been used in 4 different divisions of the company (Lothian, Motorcoaches, Country, East Coast) They are now with Country for the second time!

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

Any word if the E300s getting used on the service have been reconfigured, and/or refurbished?

What was your favourite bus type as a kid?

Dennis Dorchester and later Volvo B10Ms. Always been about the thrash. As every generation finds themselves saying at one point or another, they don't make them like they used to.

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

Thanks, I accept it's not perfect but proposed as a "needs of the many versus the few" solution as standing for most, potentially all of the 45 minute journey to/from Haddington at the peaks is enough to put me off trying and I doubt I'm alone. I'd forgotten about the retail park though...

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

Yeah that's was my primary logic, with cascade and sale plan b. The group would do well to over order doubles for a while and thin out singles - they've ended up with more than they need.

Having being reminded of the X7 capacity issues here we go: Heading towards Dunbar. East Linton - leave the A199 as currently at the Service Station and join the B1407, taking the second right onto Orchardfield followed by a left turn back onto the A199. Perhaps addition of bus stops on A199 as...
