Will we ever see a replacement for Concorde ?

    I'd agree with this, yes.

    XC timetable changes 25-29 March.

Looks like there are a few more double sets operating Manchester <> Bournemouth today than usual.

Amazing -- nice one. Thanks for sharing!

    Tube train automated announcements 2005

Appreciate this may be one of the daftest posts on here in a while as the link's broken (and think has been for a while), but this website I have bookmarked from yonks ago had pretty much full recordings of all LU announcements (and many other metro systems across the globe) from around the time...

What video games do you like playing?

I bought a Nintendo Switch a year ago or so with the intention of trying some new stuff out. I have dabbled with Mario vs. Donkey Kong and the latest version of Mario Kart, but I do spend most of my time on it playing old SNES / NES / GameBoy games on it! '90s nostalgia action is just too...

Landslip at Wellington (Shropshire), Birmingham - Shrewsbury services suspended

They did the same thing with ticketing between Oxford and Reading during the Nuneham viaduct closure a couple of years ago.

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

As per @AlterEgo 's post above, it's for gauging tests for diversions for the Old Oak Common works later this year.

Aye, same here. First time I've seen that.

    Evesham Railtour puzzle.

Welcome to the forum! Looking at RTT, it seems to have reversed from south of Cheltenham back up towards Worcester, and then diverted via. Evesham, Oxford etc. down to Didcot Parkway, where it picked up its planned route, so that would have been what she saw (I reckon). It 'appeared' at Didcot...

Poor boarding experience at Euston (11/03)

It’s been on there every time I’ve passed through to get an Avanti service recently (at least twice a week).

    Avanti Premium

100% -- people wanting a table seat with a socket on a train arriving in the capital between 8-8:30am -- a no brainer, surely.

    Avanti Premium

Removing SP from peak arrivals into Euston seems to have bombed. SP used to be pretty much full up on some of the ex. Birmingham services into town on weekday mornings. Now it’s a first class carriage, it’s normally empty. Go figure eh!

Station announcer phraseology no longer used

Ooh, that’s just given me a flashback to the Sutton loop about 20/25 years ago. I remember there used to be automated announcements broadcasted from the help points (bit odd) at Tooting that would say “the next train has just left Streatham and will be with you shortly”, or something similar...

    Avios credit card

Aye, same here. Did look at other options a few years back but AmEx are hard to beat. I'm lucky / fortunate in that I get to keep my points for work travel as well so do quite nicely out of it (4x U.S / 1x Hong Kong / 1x Singapore trips per year).

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

It is an amazing venue to be fair. The Galvin at Windows restaurant on the west side of that floor has some of the best food / service I’ve had as well.

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Sounds like we need a separate thread for price comparisons of booze (says Jim sitting in the Farringdon ‘Spoons supping a £6.13 pint of Stella).

    2024 Fare Revision

Just had a look here -- think it's gone up to £17.50 between Birmingham and Euston (was £15) :(

    Local radio stations

It's all a bit bleak these days isn't it? When I was a younger man, we had from a local perspective (searches memory banks): 95.8 -- Capital FM 97.3 -- LBC 100.0 -- Kiss 100 102.2 -- Jazz FM 104.9 -- XFM 105.4 -- Magic 106.2 -- Heart As is well documented upthread, I think all of these have...

    Local radio stations

I bow to your superior knowledge, sir :) 1709206197 I remember walking to Shepherd’s Bush station shortly before 6am that morning on the day he took over, and recall the first thing he did was balls up the time check by saying it was 7am when he went live after the news had finished!

    Local radio stations

This thread got me thinking back to fond memories of Chris Tarrant on Capital Radio back in the ‘90s growing up, then I realised it’s been about 20 years since he left and Jonny Vaughan took over from him. Time does go by! RIP to the Flying Eye chopper sponsored by Cellnet eh :)
