    Class 170's at Barrow Hill

All regional crews are 170 trained, it would be impossible for anyone not to be now. I’m unsure why these are still at Barrow Hill I’m afraid!

    Seeing forum members unexpectedly

I very rarely post on here now, but sat next to @Xenophon PCDGS on a service between Manchester Piccadilly and Wigan North Western today. As we’d not met before introductions were not made until he was leaving the service.

    Trolleybuses

With London Transport it was a different test and was listed as “Trolley” on the licence. Assume it was the same elsewhere?

    Trolleybuses

I’m currently reading Under the Wires of London by Charlie Wyatt who was a trolleybus conductor and driver at Finchley depot for London Transport. A really fascinating read and good detail on some aspects I’d never though about such as the junctions (Frogs) on the overheads. Worth a read for...

    RMT Industrial Action - EMR

I haven’t been on the forum for awhile, but I’m pleased to see stuff like this is alive and well. How do you think this would go? You also naively assume that the company would prefer this - Senior Conductors while on paper “cheaper” than a TM have far better terms and conditions which would be...

    Employee/Work Shuttles

Stagecoach East Midlands operate workers buses between Lincoln and Moy Park at Anwick (near Sleaford) as the M1/M2. There’s also the M3 between Skegness, Boston and Anwick.

Extensive TfW cancellations on Valley Lines - Sun 30/5

Actually the unions are broadly in favour of bringing Sundays into the working week as it can be mutually beneficial. Certainly my experience elsewhere but getting the deal done can be more problematic when it comes to the nitty gritty of how it will be achieved.

Mobility assistance failures at Clapham Junction

I’m writing as a member of staff. While I’d love to call it out on Twitter it wouldn’t do well for my future in the industry I don’t think.

    New lines opening in Nottinghamshire

I think the only line with a possible chance of reopening in the future is the link from Shirebrook to Edwinstowe and Ollerton. I don’t think it’s on the horizon at the moment but is often raised in local discussions.

Mobility assistance failures at Clapham Junction

The system fails at basic levels. Onboard staff not being given access to passenger assistance systems so they aren’t aware of booked assistance on their trains - especially at unstaffed stations. Station staff failing to tell onboard staff they’ve put passengers requiring assistance onboard...

Which depot has the oldest fleet?

So some slight improvements then, it amazes me every year to see those Darts plodding on!

Which depot has the oldest fleet?

Does First Cymru’s depot at Haverfordwest still mostly operate 53/55 plate Darts?

paying excess fare on e-tickets isn't supported properly

Enter “00000” then endorse with the reference number from the e-ticket, surely? I’ve issued countless paper excesses for M and E tickets onboard.

    Accident Training?

We get the process for emergencies drilled into us at initial training and it’s continually reviewed during our competency cycle between rules exams. A minor incident can escalate to a major one very quickly if the right steps aren’t taken. I’d recommend Red for Danger by L. T. C. Rolt if you...

The Great Escape ... Trespass special edition!

Is he that young? Possibly looks a bit older to me which makes me wonder if he’s scouting with criminal intent.

    EMR Class 170 updates

Peterborough-Lincoln is split between Nottingham and Lincoln depots. Nottingham-Norwich is Nottingham and Norwich depots. Training will be ongoing for sometime, certainly won’t be complete by May. I don’t think anyone from Norwich has been as of yet.

Photoshopped ticket with valid barcode- Will it come up on the scan?

I think this is the key question the OP needs to answer before we start talking about purchasing new walk up tickets. I’ve had photoshopped tickets a few times. Yes it flags and yes it’s obvious especially when the origin and destination has been altered. I’ve also had a digitally altered...

How widespread is contactless payment on UK buses?

The largest operator I can think of round here that don’t accept contactless is Centrebus but only on vehicles that are based at Grantham depot.

    EMR Class 170 updates

They are replacing the 15x fleet. None are in use on Lincolnshire services yet, only Nottingham-Worksop and Derby-Crewe. The eastern depots are in the process of driver and guard training on the 170s. Lincs services are currently in the hands of 156/158 - pairs of 153s on the Barton services only.

Class 442s - Now at the end of the road and to be withdrawn permanently

Not just their condition, the fact that people in larger wheelchairs can’t use them at all due to narrow doorways. This should’ve precluded their use at all. They got it very wrong indeed.
