Can anyone think of a better way than 2 singles for this journey. Out from Plumstead to Dorking. Back from Caterham to Plumstead. A split ticket at Norwood junction would be possible but would resrtict route options and trains to those that call.

It's right next door, it's not going to take long to walk. Kings Cross platform platform 10 to the nearest St Pancras platform will be as quick if not quicker than getting to Kings Cross platform 1.

Basically you want to go up the Hastings line it seems. Will leave it to the experts to decide how to do that with tickets, yet useful to clarify the intended route

Is there anything that says that they must provide alternative arrangements? I thought it was cleverly couched in terms of "if possible" - and the TOC could decide readily it isn't 'possible'

Paddington platform 8. Plumstead national rail - to Abbey Wood - change to Elizabeth line and can connect through to Slough/St Albans etc without passing gateline

There would be no problem stopping short on the ticket you suggest, but a better ticket has been suggested above
