    Flixbus Discussion

Does the Flixbus booking system still assign an unchosen seat for every booking? My last trip had me seated next to another passenger near the back on a less than half full coach. I moved of course but for me that system is a deterrent to travelling Flixbus.

    Toilets on Coaches

A few weeks ago i travelled on a 90 minute delayed National Express coach from Victoria towards Dover. The driver apologised for the delay but also for the toilet being full and automatically locked out of service. He added that the situation creates a warning sound which he could not stop...

Tickets retained by barriers before destination

Now you highlight it, I think that has been my experience too. When I go to evening concerts in Cardiff I usually buy a return to Cardiff Central so I can return from there if I wish, but alight at Cardiff Queen Street and I'm almost certain the ticket is retained. In my case the journey is...

Trivia : Open top buses that have appeared on non tourist services

I travelled on the top deck of the early evening open topper from Tenby to Haverfordwest in August. It's a public service but primarily a return to depot trip at the end of the day's schedule. I was the only passenger and it was a non stop journey. I thought it would be exciting to travel at...

Chatham to London Terminals. Out via Abbey wood, return from central London

Is it still necessary to return to the booking hall at Abbey Wood to switch from paper ticket to Oyster or vice versa ? I heard there was a plan to install validators on the platforms there by now.

    Ticket on Departure Collection Issues

I sometimes get an immediate message "Please Remove Card" when I insert my bank card to collect a ticket, instead of the "Card Being Checked" one. However when this happens the machine still moves on to the next screen suggesting nothing is wrong. While I know to cancel the transaction and...

    Elizabeth line reliability issues

On Thursday night my train was held outside Abbey Wood station at 22.41 for about 8 minutes waiting for a free platform. Missed both the 22.46 and 22.49 onward services as a direct consequence. We only moved into a platform when an outbound service passed us and the other platform was indeed...

    London train prices

The difference in cost between coach and rail travel has increased significantly since pre-pandemic. I've always been happy to pay around double the price to go by train on my trips from and to London, booking well in advance, but the differential is often much more than that. That's with both...

    Poor Performance On HS1

Rainham is just where I got off. The train was continuing to Ramsgate. Almost two hours journey time. I assume the 6 carriages that were detached also had no working toilets but confirmation of that was not given. The train manager's advice to keep legs crossed was unhelpful.

    Poor Performance On HS1

There were no toilet stops as far as Rainham. One person in my carriage got off at Ebbsfleet complaining bitterly, would have had an hour's wait for the next train. I also heard a little girl keep telling her mum she needed the toilet. They got off at Chatham, no idea if that was their intended...

    Poor Performance On HS1

I consider a lack of toilet facilities to be an example of poor performance just as much as reduced punctuality.

    Poor Performance On HS1

I travelled from St Pancras International back to Kent (Rainham) on HS1 last night. It's only an hourly service for much of the day since the pandemic, which means that the trains are always well loaded and sometimes full and standing when there's just one six carriage unit - fortunately they...

London Victoria to Bexleyheath on morning of Fri 31 March, i.e morning after strike day

If the Elizabeth line is running normally ion 31 March the bus element can be reduced to about 30 minutes from Woolwich to Bexleyheath on the 422.

Use of a Double Decker on Fastrack A Service

That's quite a rarity. I spend a fair amount of time in the Gravesham area and have never seen a double decker on that route.

Delay Repay - varying onboard announcements.

I just watched people put their tickets through the barrier while I was waiting in a small queue at the manned barrier. Very few seemed to be coming back out !

Delay Repay - varying onboard announcements.

I've travelled on two Southeastern trains this month which reached London Victoria more than 30 minutes late. Both conductors apologised and gave a reason for the delay as we approached Victoria. However the first conductor also made several announcements about Delay Repay including advising...

National Express: ticket not on drivers chart?

Perhaps contact National Express customer service then ? True confession. I make the same journey National Express regularly. Earlier this year I somehow managed to book a ticket for the date I wanted but the wrong MONTH. The ticket wouldn't scan of course and the driver looked at it and told...

National Express: ticket not on drivers chart?

Reading the replies to your query, including mine, I think the consensus is that it's just one of those things and really nothing to be concerned about. QR codes aren't failsafe.

National Express: ticket not on drivers chart?

Agreed, it's happened to me at the theatre and the Post Office too.

National Express: ticket not on drivers chart?

I've had a QR code fail to scan a couple times on National Express bookings made weeks earlier. The driver just checked the reference number, I was thanked and waved on. Nothing to worry about.
