New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Boots on the ground and heavy equipment is nearby. But no sign of any resolution. I wonder if they'll get passenger trains running over it but keep the heavy freight away. It's not a great situation at all for passengers at the moment. This mornings 0729 New Mills Central - Piccadilly was 2...

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

The Murphy compound was there for the emergency ground investigation works which were due to be completed by the 4th of April. That of course now has been deemed irrelevant following the closure of the down line. I suspect with the location of the slip it's going to be along the lines of Eden...

Other than this on a New Mills Facebook page, there isn't any juicy photos as you wanted because traffic has been stopped on the line before it was too late.

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Easier to keep it SLW from Marple to NM as it'll be self contained and won't affect any other line

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Could be. A freight driver I know said he went over it last week and was ready to bail out of the cab because the lurch was that bad. Even sat in the saloon of a 195, you could feel it

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Indeed. Has been dipping for months. There was an initial 20mph TSR on it dropped to 5mph. It was bound to happen sooner rather than later. This possibly will take months to fix. Think Eden Brows! It's location isn't ideal either. No tangible way to get equipment to it either. 1711401570 And...
