First West Yorkshire & York discussion

So what’s the expectation? Passengers freeze?

No, but for the X98/99, that’s what it represented.

Don’t think it matters really. Just don’t think they should keep it as the ‘X’ service if it isn’t going to be an express service.

That’s what it used to be. First time I’ve travelled by bus since Transdev took over like.

One of the X99 turns run by Harrogate branded single decker today. Noticed a couple ‘SkyClass’ double decker in the opposite direction. We seem to be stopping at and picking up at every step too. Wonder if it’s time to drop the ‘X’ prefix.

Was in Harrogate for my hair bleached/coloured/cut yesterday. Parked up in Harewood and then got the 36 and went via the detour in Poole and Huby. On the bus to Harrogate, it said that electric buses were coming to the 36. Has anyone heard anything about this? I’m not trawling through 115 pages.

Trivia : Open top buses that have appeared on non tourist services

There used to be open top buses on the Lands End routes in Cornwall.

Is it not performing well? Always seems to be well-used whenever I see it in Wetherby/Collingham.

    Pride buses in the UK

I think the notion of ‘Pride’ advertising is supportive of the movement in general but that companies should have more vehicles in the wraps over a longer period of time. Do I think it’s a good idea? One only has to look at the discrimination that takes place in the UK, the government and...

I had assumed that it would be one of the big units along there but I just couldn’t find any details of the services anywhere. Does it run from city centre to the distribution depot?

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Been on the First Leeds website recently and there’s a couple of questions I have. One of the pages boasts about buses between Middleton, Roundhay and White Rose introduced - but these already existed? https://www.firstbus.co.uk/leeds/routes-and-maps/leedscity/routes-2-3-3a-12-13-13a What’s...

    ENCTS and London buses

Interesting. Never knew that this was a thing - just thought my ENCTS pass never worked anywhere other than Leeds!
  13. Bayum

Would you consider these behaviours to be abuse of an ENCTS pass?

I’m not sure how some of these are ‘abusing’ the ENCTS. If someone gets bus travel for free and can make the journey on a bus without paying for the train… sensible I’d say.

Quite an interesting journey to Harrogate A&E this afternoon. Got to Harewood Bank to be greeted by two Leeds 36 services behind each other. As I rounded the curve and drove across Harewood Bridge, there was yet another bus there.

Chaos in Collingham today with one of the X98 buses breaking down between two busy junctions causing long tailbacks in both directions.

When I was at Boston as a student and then as a trainee, students took a number of services rather than just one that left at a certain time. Buses very quickly got very busy, more so if the Wetherby lot managed to get one of the services.

Small villages with a now poor service. Passengers will have to rely on the 174 and hourly 7 whereas they had some flexibility in the past. Also be interesting to see the effect on school traffic for Boston Spa secondary.

Are concessionary pass holders 'entitled freeloaders'?

Which I accept. But a number of suggestions you have made don’t seem to have taken into account why the majority of people who use their companion plus aspect of their pass correctly need that security there.

Are concessionary pass holders 'entitled freeloaders'?

I think this is too restricting. There are days when I’m more than capable of getting myself out and about. However, there are also days when I can’t climb up a step or lift myself off a seat or manoeuvre well enough over paved ground. Physical and mental health conditions fluctuate and as such...

Are concessionary pass holders 'entitled freeloaders'?

This isn’t strictly true. There are other aspects to the mobility component besides this.
