What are your first impressions of the new TGV-M.

Doesn’t matter whether it’s a feature - it looks blocky. End of.

What are your first impressions of the new TGV-M.

It all looks a bit… blocky. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it just has this weird look on Amtrak and TGV-M where the power cars seem too short.

Are there any orange liveried TGVs still in passenger service?

Don’t think so but there are videos of a repaint that SNCF did a few years ago.

Accident in India - At least 260 killed and 1,000 injured (02/06/2023)

Interesting to say that because the average speed of each of these trains is less than 60mph. Granted, in some areas they’re faster but not massively.

    Tram Turnback Loops

Why would there be a need for double ended buses? They don’t have the same limitation of being forced to abide by a track in order to move about. Buses are able to reverse and turn wherever they need to, within reason.

How does timetabling work for the Shinkansen?

Been watching a few videos of various shinkansen stations recently and one thing that came to mind was how timetabling works, particularly on some routes where you have various modes of traction, some that don't hit linespeed. I know we have a similar job here in the UK with various modes of...

Acela 2 on its way to testing

Or maybe the product Amtrack wanted was this model and Amtrack were happy with that?

Acela 2 on its way to testing

Regardless of the name of the unit... It looks very... different. The profile of the power car compared to the first carriage - the power car just looks very boxy. Like adding a right angled scalene triangle to a short cuboid. The carriages themselves look interesting... I can’t put my finger on...

    Experiencing the Shinkansen

5 days!? Crikey! You’ve fit a lot in there! I’m looking at potentially 10-14 days with a private holiday company like you, but extend my departure date. Thanks for the info!

    Experiencing the Shinkansen

Gotta day, I’m insanely jealous. Japan has been a bucket list dream for me since I was 7 or 8. Did you go with a tour or independently? Where did you fly from/to? Airline costs?

'World's most dangerous commute' - Manila's trolley boys

I'm sure with all the money they earn, buying luxuries like lights is the first thing that crosses their mind.

Krupps Tunnel locos to St Pancras 1st November 17?

Shame they travelled without passengers really - could have formed a more modern text - The 2017 'Murder on the Orient Express'

Norway: Reindeer collisions avoided with satellite technology

I think he means that by the time the reindeer are close enough to the line to generate the alert, the owner of the herd may be too far away to do anything about the warning.

Guided buses on the Underground / Stadtbahn?

It irritated me how slow those buses were through the tunnel.

    Japan Rail pass/travel

I'm looking at pricing a be consistent costing a rip to Japan, specifically Tokyo. I've costed flights, and it seems as if it's cheaper and more frequent flights into Narita are the safest bet. We've looked at Osaka, then high speed into Tokyo by train, but we're not losing or gaining time so it...

DB London service now in (even more) doubt...

What are the problems DB are running up against? If Eurostar were able to get their E320 sets certified for safety and the like, why are DB having such trouble with a similar train?

Staff + Passengers work together to free trapped woman

I wouldn't say they value 'life' more than anyone else, don't most people value their lives unless suicidal or otherwise? The Japanese actually are a very 'we-centred' people. Within their psychologies and lives they are taught from a young age to respect their elders and to live as a family...
