Rail Staff giving permission to board trains without tickets on social media

Bit different to a Facebook post isn't it?

How do you feel about rail staff travel

I don't get any travel concessions but I see no problem with the current arrangements.

Regulated fares to increase by 2.8% from January 2020

How disproportionate is it though? Car insurance and maintenance costs all go up by at least the rate of inflation, as does road side assistance services. From April this year VED rises in line with RPI as well.

Frinton On Sea To Colchester Please Help

Right o. The train you get from Frinton will be your only option then.

Frinton On Sea To Colchester Please Help

Which station in Colchester do you want to get off at? If you want to get off at Colchester North you can either stay on the all station stopper or change at T-L-S which will then (for you) only stop at Wivenhoe then Colchester North. If you want Colchester Town you will need to stay on the all...

    Johnny Foreigner

Why is it over the top? Just because there are (or maybe) on board ticket checks doesn't mean someone hasn't slipped through the net who hasn't got a ticket, and likewise not all stations have barriers. The underground had automatic ticket barriers long before the national network yet these are...

    NXEA almost leaving me stranded...

Probably because the OP split the route rather than just booking it direct. I don't know if this would have had a bearing on his out come. Oh, and lets try and not through the toys out of the pram by demanding someone is fired.

Passenger Obligation To Buy A Ticket

Edit: how are NR "encouraging" fare evasion? Its no different to the retail sector where security staff (or police) wait outside the shop for suspected shoplifters to exit to ensure a concrete case for prosecution (if needed)

    Am I entitled to anything?

You didn't use the service you are claiming a delay for for a start. Edit: OK I have re read your second post and realise it relates to the first class travel, however I do think its still a little cheeky as it was ultimately your decision to board the XC service rather than use the EC or...

    Am I entitled to anything?

Surely, however small the amounts maybe, what you are trying/suggesting is tantamount to fraud or obtaining money by deception?

BTP threatens to report CSA for wasting police time

Calling someone a jobsworth may not be considered abuse, but its hardly a nice way to talk to someone is it. In my experience, the term only usually comes up when one side of the party is either wrong or not getting their way...or both. Now I havent read th full story, but is it stated that...

    Ticket seller doesn't know rules

The ticket seller could easily of asked if you had a ticket from A to B that is true, but it would of been just as easy for the passenger to show the ticket when asked to do so in the first place.

    Ticket seller doesn't know rules

While it may be the case that some staff are quick on the defensive, judging by the OP some passengers are equally as quick to go on the offensive. Would it have been so difficult to show your ticket when asked? What was the point in getting into a "debate" as you put it? You were there to...

The train conductor and my e-ticket...

Was there no option to use a debit card? I do agree however that it is very inflexable to have to have present the payment card. Alot can happen between when you buy the ticket to when you use it such as theft, damage and loss.

    PLEASE check my ticket!

As I said, if you are that bothered then why not raise it with the TOC concerned?

    PLEASE check my ticket!

Makes me think this is just another thread in a long line of recent threads publicly criticising rail staff. If it bothers you that much then why not write to the TOC or take your chance and not pay? This thread may interest you.. http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=35129

    Travel Cards on London Overground?

Hello all, If say I purchased a day travel card to London (from Ipswich) via NXEA, would this also be valid on any or most of the London Overground routes on the NLL or do I need a seperate travel card for overground?

    Stopped by inspector

Correct, which isn't exactly the same as not being able to enter at all.
