Why is there so little freight on Sundays?

Last one into the North is about 1800 and is not worked on until Monday. Last one into the South is about 2130 (no port staff, just FOC staff) and not worked until Monday. Shipping is 24/7.

Why is there so little freight on Sundays?

Sunday is a not a good day for freight. As already been mentioned, generally terminals do no open on a Sunday and while shipping might be open at ports that doesn't mean the rail head is. There is also less traincrew available on a Sunday and those that are available are usually used on...

    SignalMaps.co.uk Vs Freight

Looking at Signalmaps.co.uk and I have seen at least 4 (non GBRF) freights with proper headcodes. There was a 4L36 earlier, there is a 4L48 currently on the NLL and a 4S83 and 4Z60 on the LTS. Are freights now unobscured on signalmaps as they still are obscured on OTT?

    Network Rail strike travel information

I think we are running 23 less intermodals than we normally would next week. For us that is huge.

    Network Rail strike travel information

Given the complexities I rekon a freight plan is still being worked on.

    Timetable for freight services

You can also look at the time the schedule was activated to further see what is expected to run. For example if the train is due to depart origin at 1323 but the schedule was activated at 0930 then the schedule would have been manually activated in the railway system so will be expected to run.

Freightliner East Mids Gateway - Felixstowe | Odd Routing this week?

Nothing bizarre as happens every 6 weeks or so while there is engineering work on the normal route.

Train is going to Tinsley. Don’t think Freightliner went there before.

    Railway timetable for level crossing

Are you wanting to view the trains at the crossing or want the timetable to help you cross in some way? The latter is a complete no no!

    Top and tail Freightliner

But what is the point in more freight paths if those freights cannot be serviced in the terminal or conflict with other areas of the network? You might get some extra paths on the branch, is there capacity across the GE or via Ely?

    Top and tail Freightliner

A path for a light engine doesn’t necessarily equal a path for an actual service. Likewise capacity on the branch doesn’t mean there is capacity within the port.

    Trains Obfuscated

OK thanks Mark, I still think its silly but it is what it is I guess.

    Trains Obfuscated

The road haulier angle makes no sense. If that were the reason then its the schedules that should not be made public....a 4 character train description makes no difference. On the subject of looking at it the wrong way...maybe. But I'd assume the data is not scrambled by default but an extra...

    Trains Obfuscated

Scrambling the headcodes is absolutely pointless. The original intention (I believe) was for some kind of commercial privacy/sensitivity, but anyone that is in a position to look at another operators paths or services already know what the head codes are and what the schedules are because they...

Un-consisted traffic going out on the network. Who should be checking?

indeed. We have services that stable at a yard over the weekend. The train list for Mondays train is produced Saturday with the consisting done sometime before departure Monday. Likewise I have never known a driver to depart without a trainlist....that would be a huge no no. you also can’t...

Un-consisted traffic going out on the network. Who should be checking?

I don't know if its specifically part of their duties or not but all the yards I have worked the signaller has checked if there is a consist before allowing the train to depart. If there was no consist then they would normally contact us.
