Guards on Greater Anglia trains these days.

That’s good to hear. It’s always valuable having staff at stations.

Guards on Greater Anglia trains these days.

On the same lines, I wonder how long is left for platform staff at places like Witham, Shenfield, etc. These used to dispatch the 321s with CD / RA indicators but I notice the newer trains are all self-dispatch with the platform staff merely blowing a whistle.

Dilemma - Tube driver or office job?

I can’t speak for Morden, but Acton Picc doesn’t have the link system for which you describe, for full-time Train Operators it’s just one roster which includes all shifts. It does however have a very good mafia but obviously no guarantees, especially for someone junior in service. I don’t know...

Dilemma - Tube driver or office job?

Where do you live? You mention you don’t want to go to Rickmansworth or West Ruislip, but all depots in East London have waiting lists several years long, so you aren’t going to be sent there as a new recruit.

    BRASS vs Railway Engineman's

This thread on the MSE forum is coming up for 12 years old now, but goes some way to explain why the Engineman’s investment is frankly awful and should be avoided: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3461911/railway-engineman-assurance-saving-plan-advice-please In summary, if you’ve...

    TFL Or LU

Is this in relation to a specific job advert or a generic question, as you won't really find yourself being offered one or the other for the same job? Generally speaking you are better off on an LUL contract; this offers better protection against redeployment as well as higher likelihood of a...

    Awaiting start with TFL

Unless I've missed something, you haven't actually said what the job you have applied for is?

    Awaiting start with TFL

There are some areas that have early starts and late finishes for CSA2 grades, although the frequency of these is generally lower than for CSA1. There is also the possibility that you may get caught for the early starts on cover duties in order to keep minimum numbers at stations should a CSA1...

    MOM interview

In instances such as trespassers the BTP would also attend but the Mom would also attend and if there first or requested by Network Rail would also escort the officers lineside. It’s also quite important for many instances to give some railway expertise for instances and pushback/management of...

    MOM interview

I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but I'd have thought that if you didn't have the required skills and experience for the role then you wouldn't have been offered an interview and made it through the paper sift. Unless you only got the interview through some kind of redeployment process?

No it isn’t true. Who told you that?

Incident Response Manager - MOM equivalent

I know of a few people currently undertaking this role, if you wanted to PM me a question I can ask them. This video features an interview with one of the existing IRMs which you may find interesting: The IRMs will be working on the section controlled by Rail for London (Infrastructure) which...

    London Underground - Service Control

The current salary for Service Controller level 2 is £71,962, although as part of a recent settlement for a dispute on the Met line they will be paid higher than this. The training salary is £56,358. Id also add that this is not a TfL role, but London Underground, so you would not be working on...

    London Underground - Service Control

https://tfl.taleo.net/careersection/jobdetail.ftl?job=037102&lang=en#.YSS71EfumsM.mailto With the exception of a short-lived trial for ex military personnel, London Underground hasn’t recruited externally for Service Controllers since the early 2000s. This is a two year apprenticeship with the...

    Tips for earlies

I’d also say, don’t have a sleep when you get in from one early if you have another early the next day, until it’s actually your bedtime. I find this means that I then can’t get to sleep at a decent time that night and you end up having the same problem the next day.

    Railway pay dates

And 14 pay days occasionally too (although that really stuffs up the tax).

Revenue Protection & Security Manager WMT

I don’t think that level of detail has been bottomed out yet. Certainly the papers I’ve seen yet suggests that its more modelled on the DLR / Overground set up, where revenue protection is the responsibility of the private train operators, with a fraud target set by TfL.

Revenue Protection & Security Manager WMT

I don’t think they’re actual managers in the true sense of the word and aren’t I charge if any staff, but London Midland made their revenue staff a managerial grade to get them to work more flexibly and offer them less conditions than would be expected for true operational roles.

LU Night Tube Train Operator - Part Time

There might be a tiny number some outside of this, but everywhere I’m aware of its 23.00-07.00 Fridays and Saturdays. They will be doing normal CSA duties (ie. what the full time staff would be doing any other night & at non Night Tube stations such as assisting customers and acting under the...
