    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

It’s been posted online by Richard Clinnick (editor of Rail Express magazine) that the XC HSTs are to be withdrawn from the May timetable change.

Trivia:Services that are yet to return to pre-coivd levels

The local Northern Trains stopping service from Doncaster to Scunthorpe it was planned to return last December and lasted about a week before the Omicon-related suspension. It has only just returned with the timetable change on the weekend but every 2 hours instead of hourly as before.

Unadvertised stop - can passengers get on / off the train?

I was on a late (after 1am) train on a Sunday night a few weeks ago from Gatwick Airport to London Bridge. Online live departures and also the boards at the station implied the train was scheduled to stop at Norwood Jct but it was shown on both as cancelled “due to non availability of station...

    The Queen's lying in state.

There is a significant amount of the queue just before it reaches the end that is a maze queue.

    The Queen's lying in state.

Albert Bridge is to the west; the queue once it has crossed the river at Lambeth Bridge will actually be coming from the east.

    Barking - Gospel Oak

Will Goblin trains once the extension starts run over the existing flyover used by c2c services when diverted to/from Liverpool Street and serve platforms 7 and 8 at Barking?

Sudbury stations on the Chiltern line

I can’t imagine there is much demand for interchange at Sudbury (where would people be going to; Acton Town, possibly Hammersmith although that would probably be better served by a walk from Marylebone to Edgware Rd Met?)) but the interchange at West or South Ruislip goes to different places...

Sudbury stations on the Chiltern line

With respect, you appear to be missing the purpose of this thread which is not to discuss why the stations have such a poor service (although said service is greatly improved from the early 2000s), but asking why the more useful station serving a busier area has a less frequent service than the...

Sudbury stations on the Chiltern line

And in any case even if it were in the agreement - why is Sudbury Hill the one selected for the better service - where, in my opinion it would seem to make better sense for the other one? The only reason that I can think of is for LU interchange, although there are plenty of longer OSIs than the...

Sudbury stations on the Chiltern line

From a timetabling perspective, does anyone know why Chiltern Railways choose to provide an all day service to Sudbury Hill Harrow rather than Sudbury and Harrow Road? If they only agree to stop at one of the two stations I’m intrigued as to why it’s that way around. Is there something about...

Are there any true non-stop expresses left in the UK?

Pre-Covid Timetables didn't West Coast have a non stop service from both Birmingham and Manchester (or was it Stockport?) to London in the morning.

Trivia: Which county towns do not have an InterCity service?

Quite a few I’d have thought. Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire) Hertford (Hertfordshire) Lewes (East Sussex) Chichester (West Sussex) Warwick (Warwickshire)

    Crew Change waiting times

It depends on the schedule. If the train is booked to stand for a period of time at a location, the crew relief might be at the arrival time, around the departure time, or any time in between.

XC - Are you Running 2 coach Trains to Cardiff on Sat 8 June?

Not from my photos, attached, taken on the 3rd September 2005, I don't take unit numbers but the trailing unit here is 150007, the leading two units being ex-Anglia 150/2s. In the high-resolution original of the second photo you can make out the extra cab doors in the middle of both of the rear...

Closure of London Victoria on New Year's Eve

More people go to London to watch the fireworks from areas outside the official viewing area than have a ticket to go into the official viewing area. Similarly, a great number go nowhere near the firework displays from the river!

    EMT crew(e) depot

Also, it depends where the duty would finish; if Traincrew are expected to drive their own car from their booking on location to a remote location, then they would also have to end up finishing there, meaning you’ve lost twice as much time as a taxi, because not only would they have to drive...
