Want to get into modelling - where on earth do I start?

My other half started his model railway in March. Firstly, he bought the Hornby Track Plans book (https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/hornby-track-plans-book.html?utm_source=affiliate&utm_medium=affiliate) and slightly modified the design to fit what he wanted. Secondly, where are you putting it? His...

    Ballast for model railway

My better half is building a model railway in our garden studio. He has painted the baseboard grey but wants some ballast. We’ve been looking at the local shops and also on eBay but the prices seem extortionate for what is effectively crushed up stones. We’ve got some horticultural grit in...

I use Japanese stations, always consider this an essential criteria, as you can have office blocks and stuff on top of stations. As well as this, any set that includes buffers!

    Virtual London Underground Academy

I don't get it; what is it? Trains don't get called up at each station and ask for verbal permission to depart.

    OpenTTD screenshots?

Just started playing this again today after a while. Fictional map. This is the largest city and I have a 'low level' and a 'high level' station within the city with two suburban routes crossing each other. The roof in the low level station is higher than the high level.

What Scenario are you using? I find http://www.tt-forums.net/download.php?id=67454 this one by far the best UK scenario as it's so big; you shouldn't get towns merging unless they are actually quite close together.

Come on then, let's see what extravagant designs everyone has done! This game is based on a core high-speed route (using Eurostars) from London to Glasgow with branches and local networks, including local stations on the main route. As well as the trains, there is a single tram line serving...

I've been playing this for a few years now and really enjoy it. The version I have is really good and allows for things to be built under bridges and also has destinations for passengers rather than just assuming passengers want to go to the next station along the line.
