Very sad news about the Ferry Service, I have used it a few times and the Hythe Pier Railway too and both seem well patronised. I presume now, if you want to travel from Southampton to Hythe, you have to take a bus, how long would that journey be. ? Lets hope the Mainline rail service is...

Oh Dear :D Infact I do remember there being at least one gents barbers, located by the old Gents loos at the Windsor Side of Waterloo Railway Station in London and possibly in the Gents loos that were opposite about platform 4 there, that was later turned into a Piaf Wine Bar.

There do seem to be alot of Overhead Line issues this week, I think on GWR, East Coast and today in Southern Scotland. (I am glad I live in SR 3rd rail land.)

Shame about lack of flights from Humberside and Teesside as mentioned above, at one time they used to be fairly busy. Not many trains, if any now, call at Teesside Airport Station either.

Was this another White Elephant perhaps like Sheffield Airport. To me that area seems quite well served for airports, having Leeds, Manchester and indeed Humberside not that far away, also Tees-Side, Newcastle and Liverpool too?

I did not know there was a subway at Carlise and I have used that station a lot! The Subways are useful at York as mentioned about for those needing lifts and having luggage. Again, I did not know about the subway at Newcastle, extending that as suggested and linking it to the Metro Station...

Is Doncaster Sheffield Airport the new (ish) name for what was called Robin Hood Airport, I think there was also an airport at/near Sheffield for a few years, but now possibly closed down?
