Okay, unfortunately Trainline doesn't list Kirkby Stephen as a station with an operational ticket machine

I have return tickets from Kirkby Stephen to Settle, these were booked via Trainline, but don't have any way of collecting the tickets from the station as it doesn't have an open ticket office or machine for collection. Is it against the law to get on the train as Northern can't provide...

What would the outcome be if ticket machines malfunction making them inoperative, leaving passengers with no means to purchase tickets?

Would it be for specific TOC tickets whereby they're the main operator on that route?

No doubt the Northern service would be the more desirable service for passengers to reach Hebden Bridge, whereas using TPE, passengers would either have to change at Mirfield or Huddersfield, plus also requiring separate tickets.

Now on the 17:15 Fast Bus to Preston, although the 18:03 is shown as running, I wasn't going to chance it, just in case it got cancelled too, this will give me ample time at Preston.

It does seem to be quite bizarre, if it had been in the Winter timetable changes I would have understood, it's not as if there's any engineering work taking place to my knowledge between Leeds and Preston and Preston to Blackpool North.
