Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I think BBC Verify, should verify their claims but whenever I've asked BBC Verify to verify some claim, it never gets taken up and verified.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

I was thinking more from trains being switched from diagrams with loos to those without but I realise now that in this case it is trains without loos going to ones with loos. I.E. 455s to 458s.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Looking at Journey Check it says for some services that https://www.journeycheck.com/swr/ Will that solely be on the 458 and 450 services or will it be or include the 455 services which have no loos at all? 1711356275 You have just answers by question. It seems when they switch to use a 455...

SWR Class 458 to be retained

You are right. I checked. It has gone for a 5 car 458/5 to a 4 car 450.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Lately I've probably just caught single units on the Portsmouth Direct to Guildford.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Point taken. How many 10 car 458s are still running in service?

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Less seats surely means more standing space in the aisle.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

There will be more standing space.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Still at least SWR expects they will all be in service in up to 18 months. If it is 18 months, I can't believe that Guildford won't see one within the next year, unless it will be the last 8 months they make it to Guildford. 1707523275 The BBC could contact the ICO to review the decision...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I've not followed all of this thread so it nay have been answr4ed in post X, but when the 701 were being procured, were any drivers and guards involved in the process? After all they would be the ones using it day in, day out.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

It will be interesting to see if people walk through the 701s to the front once they are running with a crowded train, most likely during the peaks.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Were you referring to a different post regarding Waterloo? My comment was only on Wimbledon. The fully walkable trains of yhe class 701 will definitely be good. I am the sort of person, who will join a train at the back, if it is about to leave and then walk towards the front to get a seat...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I use to go down to any part of a 455 on route to Wimbledon in the morning peak. That was until one day I missed my official connection as it took too long to get off the platform. After that I ensured I was always at rear, no matter how busy that carriage might be. Yes I could claim delay...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I love it. Sounds like something out of Monty Python. Well, whenever I was on a stoppong train from either Guildford or Woking to London Waterloo, they were usually busy at the back during the morning rush hour. If the 701s are better at dealing with leaves, how bad is the leaf fall problem on...

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Definitely isn't. No loos on board. I remember when there was work being done to the 455s and 450s had to be used on the New Line Guildford. I overheard someone comment on how posh they were. Now when you consider commuters from Portsmouth don't like the 450s but prefer the 444s, that says...

Which train type will you miss the least when they are all withdrawn?

    455. No loos on board. Maybe others with no loos but I don't use the other classes without loos.

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

I do think Dorking West, being step-free would be nice hourly. Dorking Depdene isn't step free. 769s timetable wouldn't have changes this though.

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

Good point. I guess my question is more had they been reliable would there have been enough back yo to avoid more trains needing repairs at the same time as usual?

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

If the 769s had gone into service would that have led to fewer trains needing repairs at the same time than usual and fewer services cancelled? Or would a high-frequency timetable, had the original plan occurred, meant that there still would have been data where more trains needed repairs at the...
