Can someone advise why this service started at Carlisle and why it’s destination was Manchester Piccadilly when Avanti West Coast don’t normally operate on the Preston to Manchester Piccadilly route?

Presumably they needed the set back at Longsight.

Just wondered why it wasn’t running as an ECS from Preston as I can hardly imagine a full train load
A friend who works at Longsight confirms that this is essentially due to the set being required there.
