I avoid the renatus ones too. The door alarms are irritating and unnecessarily loud. The non PRM 321s alarms are perfect, not too loud and unique and a couple of them are strange and funny not gonna lie
I agree, I prefer the hustle alarms on the non renatus units- they are way too loud, but I like to see a variety- ie one renatus and a /4

I may be an expert on the 321 but one thing I don't know is why did they give 321 units 421-437 spotty seats instead of stripy seats like every other 321? and has 321426 been around recently?

I'm pretty sure I saw 321 426 yesterday, either at Colchester or Shenfield - I wasn't really paying attention. I was on the 16.43 Ipswich - Liverpool Street, if that helps.

Edited to correct a typo which, once again, I only noticed when someone immortalised it in a quote!

The spotty seat moquette was fitted by National Express to 421-437 when those units were displaced by 350/2s on the West Coast in 2009. At that time, the 'native' 321s retained the green moquette fitted in Great Eastern days.

The stripy moquette was fitted to the other 321s by Abellio much more recently - it wasn't fitted to 421-437.

You can see the spotty moquette on certain buses in the West Midlands.

I see, it would be great if all 321's had them spotty seats, they look better than the stripy ones

I took 321307 yesterday which means I’ve been on the whole 321/3 subclass at last. Just in time too as they’re disappearing quickly!

Nice, did you manage to see any other 321's, preferably non PRM ones?
Yes but I paid them no attention as I’ve been on them all. Having been on all 379s, 745s and remaining 317s my focus is now the 720s, of which I’ve been on fifteen so far.

And never been on a 720.

I’ve never been on a 720, but I’ve seen them numerous times when I pass my local station,
never been on a class 379, but I have heard of them
Been on a 745 once, thank Covid for that- seen them lots of times
Yet to go ok a 321/9 or a 322, but again I’ve seen them lots

before the 321/322’s go I hope to ride on a first capital connect unit and a 322

The ex Northern units have a very pleasant and colourful interior I think. The others are just drab gret.

The first capital connect units and 322's are being used a lot recently, units 406, 407, 409 and 419.
I have no idea what happened to 402, 405 and 410
408 is in warm store

I was out and about today and managed to see:321s , 338 with an unknown unit London bound at colchester, 322 harwich bound at maningtree, 428 with 315 on liverpool st to Ipswich all day, and a short ride on 332 with 339
Had a nice run on 428 (the Essex commuter) with its spotty moquette and silver nat ex colours from colchester to Chelmsford via Ipswich, had a nice snooze as we were flying London bound, in the power car, windows open and sun shining,I have always loved the sound of a 321 acellerating to 100, managed to make a few recordings, too.

Still a great and comfortable ride in my opinion and just as good if not better but not as shiny as it’s succssors that I rode later in the day

Also rode in 315 and agree the door alarms on the refurb units are disturbing when your trying to get some shut eye, went back to 428 mid journey

Edited some incorrect numbers

That is 4 non PRM's and 2 PRM's. Thanks for sharing the info.

Once I went on a unit twice too, 361 from Stratford to Liverpool Street and 361 from Shenfield to Stratford. Good photos though.

To answer your question from the other thread, I went on 321427 when it was attached to 322484+322481. I see that 336+337, 421+424 and 426+429 are still paired up. I assume that they will get another dispensation to carry on running the non PRM units.
