Looking at Realtime Trains, I came across the 08.57 Hedon Rd Sidings to Tinsley SS on 16/10/20 and was puzzled to see it passing 2 Aldwarke Jns.

The first was at distance 56-33 (train mileage) followed by Thrybergh Jn at 57-09 followed by the 2nd at 57-65.

I recall the ex-Midland northbound to ex-Gt Central crossover at Aldewarke Jn being removed in about 1990 and replaced with a new link at Roundwood Jn to somewhere near Thrybergh Jn for freight only and the re-opened link from Swinton Jn to Mexborough for passengers and freight.

Does anyone have the old Midland mileage for Roundwood Jn and the old GC mileage (and name of) for the junction at the other end of the link?

Have you got a link to the Realtime Trains data for this working?

P.S. It's Aldwarke isn't it?

Gut feel on the schedule is someone copied another schedule and forgotten to delete some timing points. Either Thrybergh needed removing or Swinton and the first Aldwarke. And yes only one “e”.

Is it RTT just filling in the intermediate points wrongly? Note only the second Aldwarke is in the slightly bolder font (and is thus timed there from the database) and Swinton is not. So the train is routed via Thrybergh Jn but interpolated by RTT wrongly as being via Swinton.

Just checked TRUST and the schedule is correctly shown as Hexthorpe - Mexborough - Thryberth - Aldwarke - Rotherham Central so my gut was wrong.

There’s also the fact that it can’t pass through Swinton if it goes through Thrybergh Junction. Thrybergh Junction is on a normally freight-only loop that avoids Swinton.

Looking at trains booked to pass through Thrybergh, Swinton has been added in too (either by train planners or by RTT) but is of course coming up as no report as it cannot pass through both.

EDIT: For these services, Mexborough is a timetabled passing point, as is Thrybergh Junction. Swinton is being added in by RMME (RailMiles Mileage Engine) as is the first Aldwarke Junction which is erroneous.

EDIT 2: So basically the second Aldwarke Junction is correct, but the first is being added in, in error, by RTT.

@Tom might be worth having a look at this possibly.

Here’s some examples:

Added by RTT, there's a mistake in the mileage data which generates the timing points to be added.
