Tonight's reboot of the popular "All Creatures Great and Small" TV series on Channel 5 starts with the James Herriot character departing on a steam train for Yorkshire hauled by loco 3924 (?) from a supposed Scottish LMS station, possibly meant to be Glasgow.

Anyone know where the scene was actually filmed? Keighley on the Worth Valley heritage line, perhaps?

And a reflection of an Aire valley electric passing by.
Didn't spot that! ;)

Believe that Oakworth station is being used to double as "Darrowby Station" later in the new series, which then begs the question, why didn't the James Herriot character in last night's opening episode, supposedly travelling by train from "Glasgow", go there, rather than get a rickety old service bus and alight at some moorland crossroads in the middle of nowhere on the way to his job interview at Siegfried Farnon's vet's practice in "Darrowby" (a.k.a. Grassington with a 1937 makeover). Guess that would have spoilt the tenuous storyline!

Member Nutmeg posted more than once in the Nostalgia forum last Autumn - I look forward to the interior shots. The re-labelled stock was up at Oxenhope before lockdown, but has now lost its labels.
Keighley platform 4 with the 4F making an impressive departure towards Skipton, and the subway doing duty as a station entrance.
Mk1 suburbans look fractionally more like 30s LMS coaches than Mk1 TSOs IMO, and IIRC only the SVR has any LMS mainline stock.

Just had a quick look again on Channel 5 catch up you can see the Aire valley electric at 03:05. 3924 only has local train lamp code so maybe he is catching the local to Glasgow Cen. and then fast train to Yorkshire.:D

Just a random bit of strange information but my sadly long departed Aunty Eileen actually played Tristons (tipsy) girlfriend in at least one of the original series.
I’ve found her listed on Wikipedia (but only in red) as ‘Brenda, Tristans double-date partner’. :)
