Bowes Park has become my closest NR station, and there is a sort of community noticeboard on one platform which hints that the station was once considerably bigger with many more facilities than exist today.
Can anyone recommend a book or website dealing with the history of the station?
The only interesting feature these days is the centre siding immediately north of the station used to turn around "Inter City" stock to run into the nearby depot.
Although FCC apparently consider the station a little insignificant in the sense of the last train through missing out the station, the evening rush hour non-stop runs between Finsbury Park and Bowes Park are rather cool, although the train rarely picks up enough speed to make the "fast" run really enjoyable.

Got on a Moorgate service at Bowes Park early one morning this past week. Student type sitting opposite with an odd choice of reading material. He sort of raised the book vertical each time he turned a page "Moorgate. Anatomy of a Railway Disaster"

Hello..
...and welcome to Bowes Park.

The history of Bowes Park Station was covered in detail in the London Railway Record last year. The article is referenced in a blog post on the local Community website Bowes and Bounds Connected outlining the history, which also has several old photographs of the station.
