I was watching a few videos to get an idea of how fast 323s get travelling up the Lickey. 323 from Bromsgrove As the train leaves Bromsgrove, there’s a change in the speed limit from 40 to 90 but then drops immediately to 80. Clearly there’s a reason for this - anyone know what?

The 90 sign is for trains joining the Up Main from the loop or turnback platform. However, the section of Up Main prior to this will also be 90, right through the station until the drop to 80. So the actual section of 90 running is much longer before that point.

Much longer to the point of over 25 miles and past the boundary with Western.
