They still required a derogation to remain in traffic even if coupled to a PRM compliant unit.

They wouldn’t be used in passenger service without a dispensation.
Correct and also we all have to be very much aware. Even with a dispensation Do not really the unit on running on the very end. Also like on northern back end off November about a fortnight or a month before dispensation ended. Even the whole fleet could get taken out off service ie overnight ie especially the non prm ones. Like the 142s did.
Best advice is get what's left asap and soon as, especially as today the message stay at home has dropped ,act sensible and get as many as you can in. And get your pictures in whilst you can.
You now only have one chance.

Does anyone know the status of 321335? It’s been stabled in the sidings near Southend Victoria for the last couple of weeks, though it did have its pan up today. It could’ve moved between sightings, but the fact the it’s been heavily graffitied would suggest that it hasn’t. Is it off lease now?

Don't think its off lease but in the sidings probably because of the graffiti and greater anglia cannot be bothered to remove it because the NON PRM units (321335 falls under it) will be gone latest by 31st May 2021.

Surely there will be another extension for some of the non PRM units? 2 months to get enough 720’s in service seems unlikely.

If the pantograph is raised, it is in warm store, so it can suddenly jump into service when needed. Also, loads of other non compliant 321’s have graffiti on, I heavily doubt Greater Anglia would bother with cleaning up the graffitied train because it only has around 2 months left. There is a similar situation at Colchester, where 321360 lays motionless, but without the graffiti.

Should all be active, particularly as they’re all Renatus units and there are still around 50 Non PRM units in use.

I've no idea I'm afraid, I don't have access to that information, I'm just a punter but to me the Renatus units make sense to be the ones kept the longest due to full PRM compliance not to mention the fortune spent not long ago on refurbishing them. As far as I'm aware they still don't yet have a new home. From an anecdotal standpoint it seems like the PRM units (i.e. the 30 Renatus units and the 8 Northern units) are more prevalent than their numbers suggest, and I haven't heard of any being laid up yet, but for info on specific units you'd need an insider to offer some info on that.

Is it the bodyshell that has always been a spare? It was painted in Barbie livery.
I'm not sure if it's always been a spare, but I can tell you I've seen sitting outside Doncaster works before.

Also, just out of interest, when was the last 321 that went to Norwich?

No, I don’t know if anymore units have been put off lease, but according to the Evershot Rail’s list of rolling stock that is going off lease
says the 321’s will be available on the 30th and 31st of July 2021.

Also does anyone know the unit number of the 321 that is being used as a major spares donor?
Nice, thanks.
Does that include the PRM units too or nah?

It has always been a spare. It was built as an extra vehicle when the four extras were built to replace the cars written off in the Watford collision.

Wow, so 321420 and 321409 were involved in the crash?
321420 and 321418 were the two that collided. Four cars were written off (two from each) and a hybrid unit formed of the remaining vehicles. Four new replacements were constructed along with the spare driving trailer, which were numbered the same as the four lost vehicles. Can’t remember which of 321418/420 is the hybrid set and which was new construction, though.

321420 is the new-build unit.

Yes, that was on 28/3/2021, two great units I've been on. I think it was 431 which had that NXEA livery. Did 321401 and 404 ever run with Greater anglia?
