Class 321 storage/scrapping

Photos of “anything” at Newport are incredibly rare. They are scrapped within a few hours apparently.

The same question has come up in a few threads over the last couple of years, I don’t remember any photos ever appearing in response - but there’s always a first time...

Assuming it hasn't been updated, I think the closest you'll get is the Google satellite image which shows some ex Greater Anglia DVT's on their sides and a few mk3 vehicles awaiting processing.

Could be an EMU top of left pic

And Bing maps

That rules out instant scrapping!

Nothing on Bing Birds Eye though!

Public access would allow a drone or camera on a stick?

Not wishing to drag the thread off topic, but what are those in the last picture? Coal hoppers of some kind?

It gives anyone visiting an idea where to stand on a ladder for pics.

They also allow private individuals to take scrap metal / cars there too - access into site included :)

I see, so that means there is little to no chance for the class 321s dispensation to be extended.
I haven't commented on whether dispensation will be extended or not - I've no info on that - does anyone? Although I'd have thought it unlikely. I'm just saying that without a dispensation, they're extremely unlikely to turn a wheel in passenger service. But never say never - this is the railway, after all!

I mean if you saw what Northern and Great Weatern Railway did with their pacers. They coupled them with a PRM compliant 150

Thank you very much. Are all these trains coupled all together?
Hopefully 427 and 436 are around on 1st of April

They still required a derogation to remain in traffic even if coupled to a PRM compliant unit.

They wouldn’t be used in passenger service without a dispensation.
