So now we know the identities of the powercars involved, that DC Rail are hauling them in two runs, that Hanson and Hall have something to do with them, and general idea is that they aren't for scrap. What are they for then?

A lot of debate about what is happening with them with both scrap and reuse being thrown around

As 43096 has already pointed out on one of these threads, if they were starting scrapping they wouldn't start with the best examples.

Those ex-GC power cars (all six of the buffered ones) were the last to receive the major rebuild involving new engines, cooler groups, control electronics and a rewire.

Not totally sure what mods remain on the buffered PCs since their DVT days but could the fact they are buffered make the difference as far as engineering or high speed freight use? It would explain why those examples were picked first. Having said that the newness may be the downfall as far as scrapping is concerned as they have had the most down time since being retired from GC duties, they weren’t used much on MML so when was the last overhaul?

So far as I'm aware nothing remains apart form the buffers - they were rewired by Brush when the MTU engines were fitted.

MTU engines are overhauled on the basis of hours they have been running, so they will have been overhauled to the same schedule as any other MTU power car.

The rewiring was done by DML before their first use with Grand Central (which effectively removed the TDM system), but yes, they are standard apart from the buffers.

I'd forgotten they had gone down to DML Devonport. Possibly the last Power Cars to go there?
I’ll have to check the dates, but likely the last to get work done there. The last VP185 conversions for EMT were to be done there and one power car went down but think DML pulled out of rail work at that point and the contract cancelled: the work was done at the premier HST depot instead.

It's been reported on se-gen that there isn't enough storage space at Eastleigh for the second batch of 43s delivered today, an STP schedule is showing on RTT for their transfer from Eastleigh Works to Willesden TMD 0936 on friday

Have these ones at Eastleigh been scrapped then? Do Eastleigh scrap or will they go from there to somewhere like Sims?

60046 running as 0936 0Z43 Eastleigh Works to Willesden TMD, it is hauling two buffered 43s, 43467 plus another, either side of the two non buffered ones

Now reported on se-gen as 43467, 43308, 43296, 43423 which would leave 465/468/480/484 at Eastleigh

There is a video on the hst Facebook enthusiasts page and at willesden look Depot where its being temporary stored.
Showing 60046 William willberforce. Hard at work shunting them into the yard.
However its worthy to note that they have been split into two 125 power cars each. On separate stabling roads. The four power cars are no longer together. Have been Seperated into two different pairs off two. Maybe in time going elsewhere maybe.

Reported on WNXX this morning that all eight power cars have been transferred into a new SCXL pool, it is possible that the Willesden four may move at some point to Dollands Moor for secure storage

SCXL is not a new pool code - it was first used almost 24 years ago in April 1997.

SCXL may not be a brand new fresh out of the box pool code but it is now 'Angel Trains/Hanson & Hall Power Cars' and contains no other power cars whatsoever, is that better?

If you want to believe what is written on WNXX...

As 43302 says, it’s for Angel Trains stored locomotives.

What pool had they been sat in between finishing at EMR and the move to SXCL? Have they just been moved from one stored loco pool to another?

296 & 308 had been in the Angel Trains Ely Locomotives SCEL pool, the other six in the EMT Class 43 EMPC pool
