i got some pics of one of thos when the last 442 came down, i keep also seeing refurbished sets coupled to old white liveries setsAt least I got some photos of the Class 444 with rainbow ends at Poole......
Did you mean to post that photo? Just looks like two people standing on a platform!Looks like it's reversing at Branksome.
It appears there’s been an SPZ this week to allow AC 442 testing. There’s a 5Z00 at Weymouth as I type.
Well it's come out of Bournemouth depot so probably 442.I wonder if anyone has actually been out on the ground to see exactly what the stock is, whether a 442 or 455?
Are they coupled together? I bet that’s a sight and a half!2419 has gone to Weymouth tonight with 5901 & 5739 providing the tow to Weymouth. Seen going through Moreton earlier tonight
Haha snap! Are they coupled together? I bet that’s a sight and a half!
Many thanks.2419 has gone to Weymouth tonight with 5901 & 5739 providing the tow to Weymouth. Seen going down through Moreton earlier
Many thanks.
Not sure if that's the first time a 442(AC) has finally started testing but good it's got going.
The 5Z00 timings seem to suggest it was back in the depot a few hours later so wonder if any testing of the 442 alone was done.
Absolutely! Has that sort of coupling ever happened before?Wow, that'll be a sight.! Wonder if anyone down there has got some footage.
Haha snap!
I can't say I've ever heard these two classes coupling before, but I think tightlock to buckeye has been done in the past, with an adaptor. Wasn't it called a mushroom pin or something?Absolutely! Has that sort of coupling ever happened before?
Apparently so as I've read on older threads here but not actually seen a picture.I can't say I've ever heard these two classes coupling before, but I think tightlock to buckeye has been done in the past, with an adaptor. Wasn't it called a mushroom pin or something?
on my 442 LOR training from a few years ago we were told that the buckeyes and tightlocks in this config could couple without any adapters, but that there was a speed restriction applied in this configuration. Also not sure how the 455/442 electrical connections play with each other or if they would even bother trying to jumper the units up that way!
Although they are both 42 ways, I'm not sure the pinout is the same, seems too sensible to me.AC 442s now have 42-way jumpers, same as 455s
That's usually just a cl.450 run. Stock move / route knowledge, something like that. I often see 5Y01 on my travels.Anyone know what today's 5Y00 0857 Weymouth - Woking (via Guildford) and 5Y01 return 1303 Woking - BM Depot (also via Guildford) moves are to do with?
