In answer to the above posts, of the five Standard Stock cars dispatched from Ryde back to LT only two survive, a trailer and a control trailer, at Acton. The other trailer and two DMs were scrapped at Eastleigh in about 2011/12. Had my little group existed back then we would probably have tried to save them, although I gather asbestos was a problem. The DMs on the set at Acton are former Ballast Motor cars, I believe, or possibly Personnel Carriers. Of the five ex-Island Cars two were restored to period 1930s/20s LT/UERL liveries at Ryde. One of them was the surviving control trailer, currently in red primer, the other was the trailer scrapped at Eastleigh.
As for 483 preservation, the group I founded (LT Traction Group) has secured one unit to be returned to the mainland, whilst at least two more will remain preserved on the Island at Brading and Havenstreet respectively. Our unit is set to go to the Epping Ongar Railway so will be done in LT livery but I hope and imagine that the ones on the Island will remain in and be restored in Island liveries.
