I highly doubt there would have been a set swap involving the same PCs but different stock.
Thanks for the reply. From what I saw earlier today, 1V44 was formed of 43304 (at the South end) + XC04 + 43207 (at the North end) and that set was then taken out of service and replaced with 43378 + XC01 + 43301 for 1S51. Then later on 1E63 was formed of 43207 (now at the South end) with 43285 (at the North end) so like you say they most likely just turned 43207 and left XC04 as it was but I suppose there is the chance that after turning 43207 they may have put it and 43285 with one of the other sets in Laira (XC02 or XC03) so just wanted to confirm...

Looks like XC04 had a PC swap. I don't think 207 was turned, it appears E63 went via Camp Hill and reversed at New Street.

Computer says it's still with XC04.

I'll be making a journey from Stafford to Reading - and back (possibly changing at Birmingham New Street). Any chance of being able to ride on an HST with XC?

No HSTs do not operate those routes

Not on this route, I'm afraid. Just Voyagers. HSTs work between Scotland, Newcastle, Derby, Birmingham and the South West.

Does anyone know if there are any planned alterations to the diagrams in December?

In particular I am looking at Fridays and Saturdays. Thanks! :)

Seeing that the current timetable is basically being copied over I wouldn't of thought that much will change. Although there is no ECS move for 1M49 (1153 Plymouth - Birmingham) which is currently a HST (It could just not be in the system yet).

ECS from LA or BHM to BHM to form V61?

Don't forget that, on Saturdays, the 06:06 Edinburgh to Plymouth is booked double Vomiter and it's the 07:06 Edinburgh to Plymouth which is HST instead.

And on a Friday 1V61 is cut short at Bristol with the set turned around to work 1E73 to Leeds. (At the moment anyway).

Right. When I checked Realtime trains, it also showed the 06:01 Plymouth to Penzance (Mondays), 06:24 Plymouth to Penzance (Tuesdays to Fridays - there's no 06:01 on Mondays) and the 09:31 Penzance to Newcastle as pathed as a High Speed Train.

How come it said pathed as one just out of curiosity?

Thanks for that! So no change to Plymouth on Monday to Friday in terms of the diagrams originating in the north - only the 11:53 to Birmingham is no longer HST (there's one half an hour behind it anyway!)

Because that is the timing load, which has nothing to do with the planned allocated traction a lot of the time.

Right, and a Voyager with its superior acceleration especially low down can keep to HST timings.

Right, thanks. I'll stick to the forum for HST diagram updates :)!

Great to know, however, that out of Birmingham New Street (after a Voyager from Oxford) that there's an HST to Edinburgh on weekdays at 16:03 and 17:03 subject to availability and everything running smoothly!

I think this was a HST about a year ago on Thursdays or Friday's (one of the two). It is the same with the 1307 Edinburgh to Plymouth which has been a HST sometimes.

As I understand it there are actually four diagrams (but only three in service at once) as 1V50 goes ECS to Laira and 1E63 comes ECS from Laira with a fresh set.

So capacity on XC is lost simply because maintenance is done in the wrong place, as none of the weekday diagrams start or finish at Plymouth.

That's normally only once or twice a week, it's unlikely to be every day. Unless it is to do with 1V54/1S53 not going to Plymouth.

If you are desperate you could catch anything to Birmingham then go down to Bristol on a HST then a cucumber to Reading and vice versa. (edit ticketing will be different price of course)
At the moment 1V44 1V50 1S51 and 1E63 are the normal NE-SW trains and until the end of this week 1M$9 and 1V61 is an out an back diagram from Laira except on Friday when 1V61 terminates Bristol to head north to overnight at Neville Hill. Timetable changes next weekend though and 1M49 > 1V61 is no longer HST.
