Two rather well talked about trips today, 60046 worked 0836 6Q42 Ely Papworth to Eastleigh Works via ECML hauling 43423/468/308/467 followed by 60028 on 1151 6Q43 with 43465/296/484/480 via Hertford Loop, a fair stack of pictures on Flickr

It seems that it turned out there wasn't enough room for the power cars at Eastleigh so some of them are being moved to Willesden tomorrow, not sure if a 60 is involved.

I'm also not sure how it can happen that no-on checks there's space beforehand.

It does seem as though someone has made a miscalculation on the face of it, but you never know, there may be a cunning plan behind it ...


Both 60028 & 60046 were reported on last nights 2153 0Z61 Eastleigh to Willesden which indicates that either one of them has got to return to Eastleigh for fridays 0936 move to Willesden TMD or there's another loco already at Eastleigh that could be used .....

Another unusual day out for 60055 today, after a change to an original Long Marston schedule 055 accompanied the Class 56 Groups 56301 on a first test run after having been out of service for a couple of years, the 56 hauled the 60 and 24 empty JNAs on 1248 6Z56 Chaddesden to York Holgate Siding, sadly the 56 failed at Aldwarke Junction forcing a run round with 055 hauling the set back to Chaddesden as 1628 6Z57

After almost a year out 56091 returned on test yesterday, accompanied by 60046 it worked 1006 0Z60 Leicester LIP to Chaddesden to form 1129 6Z22 to York Holgate Sidings and booked 1525 6Z24 return, unfortunately the 56 expired at Alfreton on the outward trip requiring the locos to run round at Morton Jct and return as 1448 6Z22 Morton to Chaddesden, they then ran as 1700 0Z60 to Leicester LIP

Interesting that the barrier wagons are operated by RailAdventure as will, allegedly, the Class 43s currently at Eastleigh and Willesden, perhaps more work in future for a Hanson & Hall / RailAdventure / DC Railfreight combination?

After dropping off the 730 both 60s took the barriers into Chaddesden then 028 ran as 1500 0Z60 to Toton

Stacks of pictures on Flickr this evening of the 20s working 6Z30 with the RailAdventure wagons from the 730101 transfer along with another of their barrier sets, they then continued on 1821 0Z60 to Eastleigh TRSMD for tomorrows 5X20 which, according to Hanson & Hall facebook, is eight Mk3s for storage at Long Marston, possibly the Anglia set that DCR moved there from Norwich last April
