I have put summary links to the electrification threads I can find - here. This thread is a constant work in progress.

First of all I have had many requests to put the link to Garry Keenor's (C.Eng) excellent work on Electrification here. It is available as a free download. As new versions get published I will update the link. http://www.ocs4rail.com/ Incidentally it has now been published hard copy too.

Just a quick point, Leeds - Selby Electrification is delayed but not 'rejected' in the way that it is East of Selby.

You have a link to the OLE book, but it might be a good idea to have a link to the associated thread as well.

Is there not a thread on "the electric spine"?

There are four threads with "spine" in the title, of which two are about the electric spine, but they haven't been posted to in the last three years.

What is the consensus? If you guys post the links I can add them on the title page if you think worth it. Or I can stop being lazy and search for them myself. Currently in Hawaii though :D

I think a new update to the Enhancements Delivery Plan is now due. I wonder when it'll appear?

Not sure if this is the right location to post this, but my attention has been drawn to a PWI (Permanent Way Institution ?) presentation about "Northern Programmes, including Trans Pennine enhancements". It is on youtube and lasts for about 48 minutes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTGnTgdWfh4

Subsequent Q&A session (8 minutes) :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifsQ5Uss3PU

Some highlights:
Some 3 month closures will be necessary, probably in summer when the universities are on holiday (many passengers are students.)

Diversionary routes will have track renewals to ensure they need no maintenance whilst parts of the TP route are unavailable.

Much of the TP track is up to 40 years old and will need to be replaced.

Huddersfield - Heaton Lodge - Ravensthorpe Jn proposed to revert to 4 tracks, with possible grade separation at Heaton Lodge Jn.

Numerous other PWI video presentations can also be found on youtube including one about the Liverpool Lime St. remodelling.

What I noticed was at 27.15 - 27.20 approximately, it was stated electrification that is NOT PLANNED. It specifically stated to Middlesborough. This scheme was high on the Northern Sparks list to get electrified.

Great presentation by the way.

Found today, a 50-minute 2-year-old video of a lecture about GWR electrification in relation to aesthetics and listed structures.

https://www.sal.org.uk/events/2015/...-historic-infrastructure-in-the-21st-century/

I strongly suspect that the lecturer is the same person who wrote an article on the subject in Modern Railways at about the same time, though the article was more national in focus.

I've posted this also on the GW electrification resources thread.

The next update to the Enhancements Delivery Plan is now due. If it's online I can't find it - and the link in post #18 to the previous version seems to have stopped working!
