I wonder why EMR have hardly any HST’s operating on their new Coronavirus timetable. Are they not needed for limited services? I hope they come back for the May timetable once this is all over!

Because they aren't needed and it's easier for crews to work on a 222 as they can remain isolated in the kitchen.

For a reduced timetable there seem to be a fair number of HSTs out - though as the workings don't balance (to put it mildly) I suspect some of them are incorrect (HST timings but worked by 222).

Source?
Only 2 booked diagrams, both stable at Cricklewood during the day

One source could be the EMR published Covid-19 emergency timetable:
https://www.eastmidlandsrailway.co....ALro9QC5aBrFf2nDOQKI/intercity_wk52_sx_v2.pdf
This shows more than two HST sets in use at the same time. Internal documents are bound to be more accurate, but of course only EMR staff get to see them...
The timetable is largely accurate when it is normal but when engineering works or a reduced service it is not as accurate for train types. The workings are:
Set 1: 1D66 (1904 London - Leeds)
Set 2: 1C15 (0519 Leeds - London), 1F63 (1819 London - Sheffield)
Set 3: 1C11 (0523 Sheffield - London)

Thanks - so are those the only 3 HST sets on services at the moment?

Are ex-LNER HSTs being used on the emergency timetable workings?
No, as mentioned, but it's poss if the emergency TT stays in place for a while (maybe until into May?) then the LNER sets may start and the current 'EMT' HSTs end during this period with very few in service now due to the emergency timetable.

What do people think?

The “red” sets will come in as soon as they are ready. EMR will not want to be doing the exams on the existing sets if they can possibly avoid it.

Presumably the short HST sets are being rested until the situation changes and some sort of normality returns?
