National Rail says

"Saturday and Sunday:

No trains will run between Stalybridge and Huddersfield."

TPE don't mention any changes to the Piccadilly to Huddersfield stopper

And the stopper is showing on journey planners.

Does anyone know if the xx:58 Piccadilly to Huddersfield and xx:53 Huddersfield to Piccadilly will operate as normal on Saturday 13 or whether it'll disappear from journey planners when a new upload occurs?

Could it be that the Leeds end of Huddersfield is closed? And that services can still run into Huddersfield from the Lockwood/Slathwaite end as the Sheffield services also appear to be running.

Providing accurate and timely information for passengers is not one of TPEs strong points.

The TPE website (currently) shows an hourly stopping train between Piccadilly and Huddersfield both on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th, which would represent the best Sunday service we have had since the start of February.

I was thinking of going hiking in the Dovestones Reservoir area on Saturday but given the updated weather forecast is now for highs of around 30oC rather than mid 20s, I might postpone that anyway.

I notice the Northern website links to this microsite: https://thetrupgrade.co.uk/upcomingclosures/

Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 August 2022

Services via Huddersfield

We will be replacing a bridge between Huddersfield and Deighton. This will allow the line to be electrified, enabling cleaner, quieter electric trains to run in the future, and support the future doubling of tracks between Huddersfield and Dewsbury from two to four.

We will also be carrying out other improvement work in and around Huddersfield Station.

Trains that normally run through Huddersfield station will either be diverted or altered, with rail replacement bus services in place to ensure you can get to and from where you want to go

TransPennine Express services:

Services between Liverpool and Newcastle

These journeys will be diverted via the Calder Valley and will not call at Huddersfield.

An additional stop will be made at Brighouse where customers can connect onto a replacement bus service for Huddersfield which will run every 15 minutes.

Services between Manchester Airport and Redcar Central

These journeys will start/finish at Manchester Victoria and will not call at Manchester Airport, Gatley, Manchester Piccadilly or Manchester Oxford Road. They will also be diverted via the Calder Valley and will not call at Huddersfield.

An additional stop will be made at Brighouse where customers can connect onto a replacement bus service for Huddersfield which will run every 15 minutes.

An additional rail replacement service will be running hourly in both directions between Huddersfield and Manchester Airport, also calling at Stockport for customers to change onto rail services to/from Manchester Piccadilly.

Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Hull

These journeys will only run between Leeds and Hull. Customers travelling to/from Manchester should change at Leeds for onward connections.

Local services between Huddersfield and Leeds

These journeys will not run.

On Saturday 13 August, customers travelling from all local stations to or from Leeds, except Deighton, should catch Northern’s Wigan-Leeds services.

Customers travelling from all local stations to Huddersfield should catch Northern’s Wigan–Leeds services and change at Brighouse to connect onto a replacement bus service for Huddersfield which will run every 15 minutes.

In addition, an hourly rail replacement bus service will run between Huddersfield, Deighton and Mirfield.

On Sunday 14 August, an hourly replacement bus service will be running between Huddersfield and Leeds, calling at Deighton, Mirfield, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley and Cottingley stations.

Northern services:

On Saturday 13 August, services running between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield will not run and will be replaced by buses.

On Sunday 14 August, services running between Leeds and Huddersfield via Bradford will run to/from Halifax instead of Huddersfield. An hourly replacement bus service will be running between Halifax and Huddersfield.

Penistone Line trains will not be affected by this work.

No mention of Piccadilly to Huddersfield stoppers not operating but then why would anyone catch a xx:01 train from Victoria to Deighton, followed by a RRB if there's a direct xx:58 train from Piccadilly?
