It's just been confirmed that the Ingenuity helicopter made its first test flight, and all went as planned.

History has been made as humans made their first ever powered flight on another planet.

Incredible stuff.

Monday, NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter became the first aircraft in history to make a powered, controlled flight on another planet. The Ingenuity team at the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California confirmed the flight succeeded after receiving data from the helicopter via NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover at 6:46 a.m. EDT (3:46 a.m. PDT).

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
Utterly inspiring. We've had sound from Mars and now we've got powered flight. These technological advances are hugely encouraging even though we're still at least fifteen - twenty years from humans landing there.

Another planet...
I did hear this announced as "the first ever powered flight on another planet"... I understand a bunch of rednecks got angry because technically as far as they were concerned it was just the first powered flight achieved by humans on another planet...

Michael O’Leary will be working out the pro’s and con’s of setting up Ryanair routes across Mars, as we speak.
Oxygen an extra add-on, but only if you purchase priority boarding as well.
