It does look interesting (as indeed it did before!); I'm hoping to get a ticket, either starting in London on Day 2 through to the end, or joining he overnight run in Birmingham then through to the end.

No, it hauls the train to Bromsgrove from Euston. The train then reverses back up towards Birmingham, with the class 86 on the rear. (I can't remember what's planned to be on the front.)
EDIT: a pair of class 73/1s
With the 86 banking!

Whose Class 33 are we anticipating in Scotland? A WCRC one or a privately owned? GBRF don't have their own do they?

Also, Day 4 refers to 3 x Class 50s on Preston - Bescot; presumably this would be 007 and 049 - any guesses as to what the third one would be? If it's Mk1 stock its unlikely to be 008 isn't it?

Most interesting is how it gets there and back - moving 33012 from Swanage would entail a fairly long empty movement. Only 33012 and the three WCRC engines (ie 33025, 33029 and 33207) are mainline registered.

It says that it is supplied by the Class 50 Alliance so on that basis it wouldn't be 50008. Can one of 50031, 50035 and 50044 be 'boxed in' by 50007 and 50049? I would imagine that ETS will come from a generator van in any case.

Is 044 still registered for mainline use?

According to google a Class 33 has been ‘near Fort William’ before to rescue a failed charter.

For a period, 33s appear to have been common http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/page/class+33
The class was used for a time on The Royal Scotsman Western Tours in the absence of Class 37s, with 33207 being the first in September 2006, visiting Mallaig, Taynuilt and Wemyss Bay.
33029 and 33207 featured during 2007, and 33025 was used in June and July 2008.

33207 was based at Craigentinny for snow clearance duties in January 2010.

33207 also made a brief visit north on 8th December 2010 to rescue 37685 which failed on snow clearance duties near Fort William, returning to Carnforth on 15th December.

Why would 50008 be unlikely (other than it not being an alliance loco). It is air only so no issues with it pulling Riveria air braked mark 1s.

Although GBRf has operated 33012 on several occasions previously, one of WCRC's would be possible - Carnforth being not as far away and it could stay at Fort William for the Jacobite season. That said, 33012 has reached Merseyside over the past few years, so nothing's impossible!

It was the air braking only that I was referring to - didn't realise Riviera stock was air-braked!

They'd be struggling to run a tour featuring Classes 59, 60, 66, 73/9, 91 and 92 if the stock wasn't air braked!
