I am mindful to say that you have only answered part of the question, but are right with Whitby and the reason being was the date of the time for Easter to be set.

However the word SENATE is incorrect as there is an ecclesiastical word instead which is required. Also the year that this meeting was held still has not yet been named and that was a requirement of the quiz question.

An ecclesiastical word for a meeting? Synod?

A year feels too specific for me, can we keep these questions simple enough for people who aren't walking encyclopedias to answer please. :)

I fear it's unlikely that unless it's someone's specialist subject anyone will know that, so I've got out my Penguin Encyclopedia in the hope that no-one will have to resort to google, and it says 663/4.

You have now answered the final part of the date query which was 664AD. This is one date that I learnt off by heart in my first year at grammar school in 1956 and it has stayed with me ever since.

You can now set the next clue.

Feel a bit guilty stealing that from clagmonster. (The use of an encyclopedia is discouraged everyone :p)

What is myopia more commonly known as?

Yes, it's short-sightedness.

I'll let you work out who's turn it is.

I will have to select this correct answer. The Caledonian Canal was a help to those vessels in that the often-fraught navigation around the north coast of Scotland could be avoided by making a cross-Scotland route available.

You can set the next one.

I have hired a boat on it 4 times and I can say without exception it's the best holiday I've ever had.

I'm gonna take a wild shot in the dark here, but judging by the speed they're traveling would they disintergrate?

They stick together?

Quite right, I thought someone would get that rapidly.

It's called cold welding.

Two pieces of metal without any coating on them will form in to one piece in the vacuum of space. This doesn’t happen on earth because the atmosphere puts a layer of oxidized material between the surfaces.

Your go.

Calcium carbonate ( better known as limestone )?

Permanant hard water? Thats Calcium Sulphate and Magnesium sulphate I think (plus one or two chlorides thrown in for good measure)
Not to mention the most important one which is Water itself :D

Correct. The carbonates are classed as temporary hard water as, when boiled, produces limescale, amongst it's by products.

Here you go then a very easy one.

What do Laser printers, windscreen wipers, fire escapes and bullet proof vests all have in common ?

If you get hit in the face with one, you'll definitely know about it :D
(not quite a serious answer)
