Glasgow/Edinburgh to Inverness Sleepers

did the Scottish Region ever use the Sleeper services to get locos to Fort William, Inverness & Aberdeen following a failure or to provide spare locos?

e.g. a pair of 40s instead of a single 40?

There will undoubtedly be incidences of 40s working up and down in pairs in the 1970s. I seem to remember having a "Pair" of duffs over the slochd one night which would have likely been a loco swap, I didn't care TBH :p

Otherwise, there was a lot of piloting due to snow and I dare say someone in CFPS can refer to a 40 piloting a duff in the early 80s.

Most infamous was a 26 piloting a TRAM on an aviemore ski-DEX.
