Personally I find the term inappropriate. Is it actually GWR's intention to significantly accelerate the trains concerned? Presumably they could derate the engines to save on fuel consumption.
Someone needs to crack a smile

There's two additional vehicles been added to the programme by the looks of it. 48136/137 are additional. It would be interesting to know when that was approved.

48136 ex 42570
48137 ex 42582
48149 ex 42087
48150 ex 42580
49117 ex 44042

Interesting to note the quoted vehicles;

I've got 42570 and 42582 as currently at Long Marston, having been moved there on 12th and 10th Feb 2020 respectively by 57312. Does anybody know if these have moved to Doncaster, and if so, when?

I've also got 42173-42195-42217-42310-42353 (along with 44042 which is accounted for) as having moved to Doncaster on 24-07-2020 by 43171 & 43172, but no info as to their fate since. Have these been used for spares and / or rejected in favour of other vehicles?

Does anyone know what the seating capacity is for these sets. I believe it may vary in line with carriage ownership. Thanks in advance to anyone able to provide this data.

Seeing that a set went on the Exmouth line overnight.

If that was a hst it stopped at stations on the branch so had the look of a gauging/timing trial. It would perhaps be to review whether they could be used down the route they could be included on any of the diagrams. Thinking ahead to July and August if a spare set could be found it would release a unit to try and reduce short formed services to Torquay and Paignton when the resorts are very busy again over the summer yet social distancing, where possible, may yet still be advised by the government looking at the most recent comments.

I live by the Exmouth line and didn't hear the HST set go down although some of my neighbours heard it. Would both power cars have to be platformed?

I wouldn't know. I'm only looking at the way the schedules were formed and all the stops. If anyone is close to Great Western operations on here they know the answer and indeed be able to confirm or deny the purpose of the moves.

It was definitely a gauging test, a full length HST having traversed the line in the past. I don't know if there are any plans for regular use in the future or not.

No, the power cars don’t have to be platformed. At some of the local stations near Bristol, not even four coaches are completely platformed, hence the guard enables only the doors on the front two coaches to be opened.

42570 and 42582 moved by road to Wabtec in mid February. The TS are donors, bought by GWR and have given up their UATs to these extra Castle sets as the original supplier went bust.

14 sets in total, plus various spare vehicles. I think there’s three vehicles still to come, but no full set. I wouldn’t be surprised if an extra set was formed from the spares, particularly whilst the 80x fiasco is ongoing.

I've got 16 sets plus one spare TGS
Is this list correct?
(ignoring vehicle order within a set)

Currently 14 sets with GW12-13 being OOU. When the final coaches have been delivered the formations will be as I posted up thread with a few spare vehicles.

Edit: Check post #1953, and no that list is not correct. Close though.
