There is a short clip of a Deltic leaving a station, no number was visible. The rest appeared to be studio based or stock footage from elsewhere at the end. This episode was unusual in that the video tape was wiped and there was a film version made in black and white for export which was shown.

In it Eric and Hattie and their neighbour are returning from a fishing holiday in Scotland. According to the script there was a sleeper from Glagow Central at 22.15 and 23.00. Later after they ended up at Darlington station there appeared to also be a northbound sleeper stopping at Darlington around 00.00. All this in 1972.

The nearest I have handy is the May 1976 Thomas Cook. There were sleepers at 22.10 and 23.10 to London from Glasgow C., the former running via Kilmarnock. The 20.00 Kings Cross-Aberdeen called at Darlington at 00.10-00.13. So the times are fairly close, but remember the West Coast Main Line was being electrified.
