Been looking for info on Signal T31, which controls access from the Jarrow Shell Oil Terminal line, and Signal T42, which controls access from the Up Pelaw Goods Loop.

Looking at a signalling diagram (Figure 1) I have gathered the following:
•T31 - 3-aspect signal with attached shunt signal, can display up to four route indications
•T42 (Figure 2) - 4-aspect signal with attached shunt signal, can display up to three route indications

So far, the only route indication that I have managed to decipher is that T42 can display an ‘M’, which signals onto the Up Sunderland line (Figure 3).

Anyone able to shed any light on the remaining route indications? Have been scouring S-R-S but so far to no avail.

I believe both signals are controlled from Tyneside IECC’s Sunderland desk (Figure 4).

Thank you in advance and merry Christmas to all. :D

I do not live in that area or work for NR but I would guess that T42 shows L for Leamside and maybe J for Jarrow branch and of course the shunt signal is for movements forward into the shunting neck. As for T31 that's a bit more easy as the lines from there are Bi- directional so it might say DL for down loop DM for down main UM for up main and UL for up loop or letters to that effect. The shunt signal below T31 may well apply to the engineers siding at the far end of the up goods loop.
