Expect to see a few more stupid comments from Corbynites leading to further suspensions

Very happy personally.

Can't believe the amount of people who still rally behind Corbyn though. Starmer is a far better leader in almost every capacity. Those who are surprised he suspended Corbyn fail to understand that not doing so would risk his position as leader being untenable, given that his whole stance is to be "zero-tolerance" on antisemitism within the party.

Also, you can't fully accept the findings of the report without dealing with Corbyn - who was specifically referenced when the report mentioned that the problem could have been dealt with more effectively had the leadership chosen to do so.

I hope the myth that Corbyn is a "nice man" will be finally blown apart by this, a nice man doesn't surround himself with wolves.

How long before the hard left union leaders start threatening to withdraw funding if Corbyn is not immediately reinstated?

Maybe if they do they'll get accusations of supporting antisemitism thrown their way too. Might be enough to shut them up.

What I don't understand is that the EHRC report has literally stated that there is a proliferation of discrimination in the party and that it partly lies on the shoulders of the leader. How is this supportable by anyone?

Let's hope the potential legal challenges against Corbyn are successful, might shut some of his other supporters up too.

Might not be such a bad thing. Labour would do much better aiming to be a genuine left of centre party rather than hanging on to its tradition of being the political wing of the trade union movement. Tha collapse of the "red wall" should have made that clear.

Labour with Corbyn was a disaster and this was long needed for the party.

Fully agreed. He surrounded himself with anti-semites, visited anti-semetic groups, yet we're supposed to believe he isn't anti-semetic? Pull the other one...

Corbyn's clique of we know what's good for you socialists is what lost Labour the north. Starmer is a step in the right direction for the party.

I have no desire to see Labour tearing itself apart, or to see the very broad coalition of voters and members in Labour reduced.

However. Mr Corbyn's career in frontline politics was plainly over already. All that was required was that he acknowledge the report and express his regrets over the events - and nothing else. He could have simply answered all questions with those two points. If he'd done so, while I am certain it wouldn't have been plain sailing, he also wouldn't have been suspended.

The man cannot help himself, and now it will be much worse.

The statement was a measured critique of the decision, the suspension is a mistake.

Really? That statement Corbyn came out with sounded to me like a challenge: ‘I can say what I want because I’m untouchable’...

So do you believe that the levels of anti-Semitism were overstated? Because from what I've seen with my very eyes on social media, especially with the vitrol directed to the likes of Ruth Smeeth, it wasn't at all.

A truly woeful leader. I hope those threatening to leave do - they need to grow up and realise it's not the Jeremy Corbyn party.

I feel they were given more prominence in the media than similar cases relating to muslims and the conservative party. And the delays were mainly due to party processes that the leader quite rightly does not have direct control of.

Let them. Starter will stand up to them. The tests are not over yet.

I don't do whataboutery, fix your own house first. Read the EHRC report - tip of the iceberg it states. Corbyn's statement was pitiful, should've kept his gob shut.

Conservatives getting rid of BoJo and making Sajid PM would quickly fix that.

Indeed.

It's a reasonable comparison when you ask if the case was overstated.

Corbyn has been an unmitigated disaster for Labour, and by extension the country. I hope we never see or hear from the misguided, deluded old fool again. I can't forgive him for the damage he's done. He's devoted the last 25 years to trying to undermine the most successful Labour government and PM in history.

Yet more evidence that the over 70s should get out of politics instead of making fools of themselves, or worse, applicable worldwide. Leave it to the younger element to foul things up, if that is what they are going to do.

I'm 72 by the way.

If measured by general election wins, then I believe the statement is true.
If measured by achievement, which I would prefer, Attlee in '45. Unfortunately the war years and the recovery wore the leadership down.

Whilst I entirely agree with you in principle, to a certain extent it wasn’t all his fault.

As a politician he’s really not that much - I’ve met him - and there are far more capable politicians around in all of the main parties. He’s certainly not a leader, which he demonstrated handsomely. He was, essentially, a figurehead for Momentum and the hard left, put on a pedestal and told what to say. You can see the same in the Labour councils that have been taken over by Momentum - Haringey for example.

Obviously Corbyn has to take much of the blame - he agreed to stand, stayed on far too long, and didn’t act on this issue (and others) when it was clear he should have. However those behind him also must take some of the blame.

Tony Blair is the longest serving Labour Prime Minister, there were some good things done by Labour and some bad things too, going to war in Iraq undid Blair's legacy.

Gordon Brown wasn't Prime Minister material and lost the election as a result.
