Other end of the country from me, but wasn't a station in NE London moved to a nearby location under a new name , with the existing station closed? Only a couple of years ago, but I think it went through a formal closure process.

In 2019 Angel Road closed and replaced by Meriden Water

I thought Newhaven Marine officially closed last year? Didn't it all get demolished so resulting in no physical station there now? Presume the taxi replacement ended also?

Norton Bridge is officially closed (before Newhaven Marine was) but Wedgwood and Barlaston are classed as open, just currently not served by any trains. Can't remember if Wedgwood and Barlaston still have a replacement bus service or not.

Not a replacement bus as such, but tickets for those stations are valid on the regular service bus which is advertised at Stoke.

It did. Legally closed October 2020, but possibly doesn't meet the OP's criteria of there being no nearby alternative.

Can't imagine the taxi provision still being available.

It's not Etruria, it's Barbican, isn't it?

The tube is still open but it didn't replace the railway - it wasn't a new thing.

Indeed, but the OP's criteria was that there should be no alternative, which for Barbican station, there clearly is.

1994 - Ditton closes. Dover Western Docks closes too. Pendleton is shut 'temporarily' after an unfortunate arson attack. Morecambe Promenade is closed, and replaced with a new Morecambe station.

1995 - Attercliffe and Brightside in Sheffield both close, as do Godley East, Miles Platting, and Park in Manchester.

1996 - Smethwick West closes. It had already been replaced by the new station at Smethwick Galton Bridge, and was meant to close in 1995 but for an administrative error.

1996 - Wadsley Bridge is closed after the last football special. The last trains run to Croxley Green, Watford Stadium Halt, and Watford West before a new road severs the railway line.

1997 - Ramsline Halt - which served Derby County FC, hence its name being literally 'Rams Line Halt' - is closed. So are Addiscombe, Beddington Lane, Merton Park, Mitcham, Morden Road, Waddon Marsh, and Woodside - although each of these stations is replaced with a namesake tram stop.

1998 - Pendleton officially closes, to save on repair costs. Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh, a station which I just learned existed, closes too. The temporary station at Heathrow Junction closes as the line through to the airport opens.

2001 - Folkestone Harbour is closed to regular traffic, after SeaCat services relocate up the coast.

2002 - Leeds Whitehall closes, after having been open temporarily during redevelopment of Leeds station (which had now been completed). Complete closure of Croxley Green, Watford Stadium Halt, and Watford West is formally approved.

2003 - Croxley Green, Watford Stadium Halt, and Watford West all officially close, seven years after the last train.

2004 - Norton Bridge, Stone, Wedgwood and Barlaston are closed. A bus service is introduced, though Norton Bridge is no longer served as of 2019. Stone has since fully reopened, while a proposed new station at Barlaston is yet to be greenlit.

2005 - Etruria closes. Meanwhile, Allerton is closed and redeveloped into the future Liverpool South Parkway Station.

2006 - Garston closes, with Liverpool South Parkway opening adjacent to it. Services are suspended to Newhaven Marine, effectively closing an already-parliamentary station. Canning Town, Custom House, Silvertown, and North Woolwich are closed to facilitate conversion to a DLR service to Woolwich Arsenal; Canning Town and Custom House reopen as DLR stations, but Silvertown and North Woolwich are not directly replaced (although London City Airport and King George V DLR stations are opened nearby).

2007 - Kings Cross Thameslink is closed, with new platforms at St Pancras replacing it. New platforms at St Pancras also supersede Waterloo International, which closes.

2008 - Abercynon North closes. Abercynon South is relocated and becomes Abercynon, replacing the closed station. An official 'last train' runs to Folkestone Harbour after Network Rail announce their intent to close the station for good after several years of mainly charter use.

2009 - Dean Lane, Failsworth, Hollinwood, Oldham Werneth, Oldham Mumps, Derker, Shaw and Crompton, New Hey, and Milnrow close as the Oldham Loop Line is prepared for tram conversion. However, Dean Lane and Oldham Werneth never reopen as tram stops. The formal closure process is begun at Folkestone Harbour, with a final railtour serving the station in March. Barbican closes, along with the Thameslink platforms at Moorgate, to enable platform extension at Farringdon (the tube stays open).

2010 - Workington North closes. The station was temporary, built in order to replace the roads and bus connections that had been suspended by the Derwent floods of 2009.

2014 - Folkestone Harbour finally officially closes, thirteen years after the last passenger train called.

2017 - The buildings at Newhaven Marine are demolished, ironically resolving the issue which initially closed the station.

2018 - IBM has its services suspended pending potential redevelopment of the site it served, though the station is not officially closed.

2019 - Angel Road closes. It's replaced by Meridian Water, a new station. Meanwhile, Redcar British Steel is 'temporarily' closed while the site the station served is regenerated, with services suspended. The passengerless parliamentary train service to the now-bare Newhaven Marine is suspended due to resignalling works. Great Western summer Sunday services call at Sampford Courtenay for the last time (at time of writing).

2020 - Newhaven Marine finally officially closes, fourteen years after the last passenger train called.

2021 - Sampford Courtenay is closed indefinitely, and seems likely to stay closed as GWR will likely serve a new station at Okehampton Parkway instead.

Norton Bridge was the last officially closed although Angel Road and Newhaven Marine are in the process of closing and it just needs some signatures from executives as far as I understand.

Wedgewood is likely to be closed soon.

Pendleton officially closed in 1998 although no services stopped since 1994 following an arson attack.

Attercliffe Road and Brightside both closed on the same day in 1995.

None of these stations were replaced with a replacement bus service or any other public transport alternative AFAIK.

Probably not the most recent but may be of interest.

Regular use ceased in 1987 but used by occasional special trains until 1999. Unsure when official closure date was ?
Then "Out of use". Track lifting started October 2020.
I think when this was last discussed there wasn’t really an official closure date, because it predated the 2005 Act‘s closure procedure, and it’s predecessor procedures, by many years...

…although Angel Road and Newhaven Marine are in the process of closing and it just needs some signatures from executives as far as I understand.
No, they’re both fully closed, the ORR ratification is long passed. We had long threads about them…

What about Sampford Courtenay Stn, last used in 2019 by GWR Exeter / Okehampton Sunday trains and now in Network Rail ownership, but not planned to be served by the soon to be reinstated regular Exeter/Okehampton service.

In 2009 Barbican station did not close-- only the Thameslink platforms (same as Moorgate)

Where would Workington North sit within this criteria? Technically it was a formalised station provided for the town whilst the bridge was out of action, and has since closed. One could argue that Workington itself is the replacement but wasn’t there a local desire to retain both?

Edit: Just read the previous post.

Could we not say that Brightside was replaced by Meadowhall Interchange?

Leeds Whitehall was a temporary platform, not a station. You couldn't buy a ticket from Leeds Whitehall to Leeds, or anywhere I think (I can't remember last week never mind 20 years ago). A shuttle bus service took passengers from the platform to Leeds Station.

Probably not a contender but worth mentioning, Sinfin Central and Sinfin North haven’t had a train since 17th May 1993, replaced by a taxi service which was quickly reduced to one journey, one way, per day (06:48 from Derby), and that was then removed in May 1998 when both stations formally closed. As part of the closure there was an agreement that the platforms were to stay intact for up to 10 years should an operator wish to restart rail services, although 23 years on it seems unlikely

"However, Dean Lane and Oldham Werneth never reopen as tram stops."

The old up platform at Dean Lane is now exactly where the platform of Newton Heath and Moston Metrolink stop is.

Respectfully disagree with both of these.

Brightside remained open in addition to Meadowhall Interchange for five years and I’m fairly certain that there are existing stations open today that are closer together than Meadowhall Interchange and Brightside ever were. That said, I’m prepared to be corrected on the latter point.

The closest tram stops to the former Attercliffe Road station are Hyde Park and Nunnery Square Park & Ride - neither of these are equivalent replacements considering that they serve very different destinations to what the railway station offered.

Also wasn't Meadowbank Stadium only a temporary station for the Commonwealth Games when held in Edinburgh? Plus it has numerous bus links from Waverley.
