- Attercliffe and Brightside in Sheffield both close, as do Godley East, Miles Platting, and Park in Manchester.
- Smethwick West closes. It had already been replaced by the new station at Smethwick Galton Bridge, and was meant to close in 1995 but for an administrative error.
- Wadsley Bridge is closed after the last football special. The last trains run to Croxley Green, Watford Stadium Halt, and Watford West before a new road severs the railway line.
- Ramsline Halt - which served Derby County FC, hence its name being literally 'Rams Line Halt' - is closed. So are Addiscombe, Beddington Lane, Merton Park, Mitcham, Morden Road, Waddon Marsh, and Woodside - although each of these stations is replaced with a namesake tram stop.
- Pendleton officially closes, to save on repair costs. Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh, a station which I just learned existed, closes too. The temporary station at Heathrow Junction closes as the line through to the airport opens.
- Folkestone Harbour is closed to regular traffic, after SeaCat services relocate up the coast.
- Leeds Whitehall closes, after having been open temporarily during redevelopment of Leeds station (which had now been completed). Complete closure of Croxley Green, Watford Stadium Halt, and Watford West is formally approved.
- Croxley Green, Watford Stadium Halt, and Watford West all officially close, seven years after the last train.
- Norton Bridge, Stone, Wedgwood and Barlaston are closed. A bus service is introduced, though Norton Bridge is no longer served as of 2019. Stone has since fully reopened, while a proposed new station at Barlaston is yet to be greenlit.
- Etruria closes. Meanwhile, Allerton is closed and redeveloped into the future Liverpool South Parkway Station.
- Garston closes, with Liverpool South Parkway opening adjacent to it. Services are suspended to Newhaven Marine, effectively closing an already-parliamentary station. Canning Town, Custom House, Silvertown, and North Woolwich are closed to facilitate conversion to a DLR service to Woolwich Arsenal; Canning Town and Custom House reopen as DLR stations, but Silvertown and North Woolwich are not directly replaced (although London City Airport and King George V DLR stations are opened nearby).
- Kings Cross Thameslink is closed, with new platforms at St Pancras replacing it. New platforms at St Pancras also supersede Waterloo International, which closes.
- Abercynon North closes. Abercynon South is relocated and becomes Abercynon, replacing the closed station. An official 'last train' runs to Folkestone Harbour after Network Rail announce their intent to close the station for good after several years of mainly charter use.
- Dean Lane, Failsworth, Hollinwood, Oldham Werneth, Oldham Mumps, Derker, Shaw and Crompton, New Hey, and Milnrow close as the Oldham Loop Line is prepared for tram conversion. However, Dean Lane and Oldham Werneth never reopen as tram stops. The formal closure process is begun at Folkestone Harbour, with a final railtour serving the station in March. Barbican closes, along with the Thameslink platforms at Moorgate, to enable platform extension at Farringdon (the tube stays open).
- Workington North closes. The station was temporary, built in order to replace the roads and bus connections that had been suspended by the Derwent floods of 2009.
- Folkestone Harbour finally officially closes, thirteen years after the last passenger train called.
- The buildings at Newhaven Marine are demolished, ironically resolving the issue which initially closed the station.
- IBM has its services suspended pending potential redevelopment of the site it served, though the station is not officially closed.
- Angel Road closes. It's replaced by Meridian Water, a new station. Meanwhile, Redcar British Steel is 'temporarily' closed while the site the station served is regenerated, with services suspended. The passengerless parliamentary train service to the now-bare Newhaven Marine is suspended due to resignalling works. Great Western summer Sunday services call at Sampford Courtenay for the last time (at time of writing).
- Newhaven Marine finally officially closes, fourteen years after the last passenger train called.
- Sampford Courtenay is closed indefinitely, and seems likely to stay closed as GWR will likely serve a new station at Okehampton Parkway instead.
